JWOA Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Who makes the best bluegill color for bass fishing I saw some Kopplers and they look like a contender What do you guys think? Thanks Jay White Quote
Arv Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 What type of lure? There's some swimbaits out there that look just about like the real thing. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 21, 2013 Super User Posted September 21, 2013 IMHO, those fantastic looking, super realistic, paint jobs, catch the crap out of....................fisherman. The dumb old bass around here will bite a crank bait with a bluegill pattern on the sides of it drawn by my 4 year old kid, just as much as they will those fancy ones. If they ain't biting cranks, they ain't biting them....a $20 lure isn't going to help you much there. 3 Quote

Arv Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I don't have any experience with swimbaits, but the mattlures gill baits usually get good reviews. Quote
dreamertino Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I bought a koppers live target crankbait when I first started not knowing better but I like the rapala bluegill color baits they work great and the mattlures bluegill swimbait is beautiful and will catch some big bass from what I have seen but haven't fished it myself Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 22, 2013 Global Moderator Posted September 22, 2013 Strike King has a natural pumpkinseed color that tears the fish up for me in the 1.5 size. It's about as realistic as you can get for a bait in the $5 range. The natural bream is a really good bluegill imitation also. http://www.basspro.com/Strike-King-KVD-Square-Bill-Silent-Crankbaits/product/10209675/ Quote

They aren't the only place that carries Strike King cranks either, they're just a site sponser so I could post up the link. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I bought a koppers live target crankbait when I first started not knowing better Not knowing better? I personally can't find anything negative about them, and I found the fish tend to agree with me, especially in clear water 1 Quote
derekxec Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 i use the live target bluegill and it catches fish Quote
dreamertino Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 I have not had any luck with them I have thrown it for a while I just figure there are other crankbaits that will work just as well like a rapala Quote
