FinesseGuru89 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 What's everyone's favorite type of line for drop shotting? Who likes straight fluoro or braid with fluoro leader? Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 I use 10# 832 braid...straight. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 Cover dictates line choice, not rigging. For deep, clear water, I use 6# InvisX or Tatsu. For shallow weeds, I 20# 832 or Power Pro and a 12# fluoro leader. Bubba shot, 50 lb. braid, straight up. Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 10# PowerPro with a 6# P-Line Halo leader. Quote

FinesseGuru89 Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 I use 10# 832 braid...straight. Interesting choice Mark. Why do you like straight braid? Quote
thehooligan Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Im using 10lb braid with 6lb flouroclear leader. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 Interesting choice Mark. Why do you like straight braid? I've just gotten so used to using it all around that it is just second nature to me now. The sensitivity is the main reason and strength is a bonus. I use the drag as it should be or back reel. I fish heavily weeded lakes 90% of the time. If i was out on a super clear rock/sand bottom lake I'd opt for using the fluoro leader but i'm just not on those bodies of water much. You can always add a leader, but me personally I like braid as my main line for almost everything except crank bait fishing. Quote
ColdSVT Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I like anything 10lb or smaller as long as it is flouro tied to braid via an albright knot I like invisx mostly Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 20, 2013 Super User Posted September 20, 2013 Open water, shallow or deep.... I use 10lb power pro with an 8lb fluorocarbon leader on ML power spinning gear. Moderate cover, I go with 20 lb braid, with a 15lb fluorocarbon leader on medium powered casting gear. Heavy cover.... 30lb braid, 17lb fluorocarbon leader and MH power casting equipment. Quote
