lanzbass Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 My most cherished moment in fishing was fishing by the side of my Grandma , and her giving me my 1st Eagle Claw rod and Micheal reel Quote
Loop_Dad Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Mine was when my then 5 yrs old daughter caught 2 lbs on her brand new 4 ft Shakespeare combo on her first (or close to first) cast on a brand new cute crank bait she picked out herself at the store. 1 Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 When my girlfriend caught her PB bass 6lbs. We stopped at a lake before our movie and it was our 2 year anniversary. She was fishing a frog and when she heard the blow up and felt the weight she got startled it was funny, I yelled set the hook babe. She was reeling it in and kept saying I don't think I can reel it in, had 30lb braid so I wasn't worried lol. She finally gets the fish to shore and her face lit up she was so excited to see her biggest bass caught to date. I love the fact that I found a girl who loves fishing with her man lol most women would rather stay home while their man is fishing 1 Quote

rvadog Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I have two. First is fishing with my granddad on the blackwater river. Learning to catch bluegills and crappie. The other is teaching a kid I mentored in NY how to fish. I would bait his hook with chicken liver and let him catch catfish till he was tired of it. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 It wasn't a moment. It was over the period of a few months. My grandfather had fishing in his blood, and fished for whatever was biting. He taught me how to use a baitcaster in the yard and he would do a secret indian dance when the fish weren't biting to call the smallmouth bass in close enough to our lines that they would see the soft shelled crayfish and bite. He was diagnosed with lung cancer which soon spread to his pancreas. I took him out quite a bit over those few months while he was still strong enough to walk. I took him to spots where I knew he'd catch fish and wouldn't have to work for it.. Kind of like taking a kid fishing for the first time. He held onto the passion to fish until the day he died. The last time we went out, I had to bait the hook for him and take the fish off. We were catching sunfish and small largemouth and he told me how happy he was that the smallmouth were biting. I think someone's cutting onions 7 Quote

Todd2 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Fishing with my dad the past 4 or 5 years, before he passed last year. Taking my son and daughter is a close second. My funniest moment was a big group of partying pontooners watched me set the hook and bring in a 4 lber. They were in a festive mood and started yelling and cheering. I felt like I was on tv, lol. 1 Quote
SudburyBasser Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I'd have to say when me, my brother-in-law and a friend were going for bonefish in the Turks & Caicos last August. It was just such a perfect day. Just three guys having a grand time away from work for nearly two weeks. 1 Quote

Kevinator1 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Taking my daughter with me to a local two man team tournament. We finished in 2nd place out of about 22 boats and won some money. She actually caught 3 of our 4 keepers. This was the very first tournament she fished with me. It was awesome. By the way, I let her have the money since she caught the majority of our keepers! 2 Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted September 19, 2013 Super User Posted September 19, 2013 There are several but the one that comes to mind is when my nieces were preteenagers, I drove them out to the river on an August day. On the way there, we sang along to a song on the radio. Listening to 2 girls sing "See the young man sitting in the old man's bar, waiting for his turn to die..." is a hoot. Anyway, we traipsed down to the river where, naturally, the fish weren't biting so I gave that up, climbed into the river with them and piled mud on an overhanging tree limb in the river. It was a silly game but we had fun. and I'm so glad I put down my fishing pole. I need to ask my nieces if they remember that. 1 Quote

mikeeasttn Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 Taking my grandson fishing and watching him catch a 8.5# LM. He is a dedicated bass fisherman now and goes with me everytime I go fishing. Fishing with him and watching him catch fish is one the the greatest blessing the lord has ever given me. 1 Quote
