Super User bigbill Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 I wish we had two sections here one would be a list of the good companies online to do business with. And another list of the bad ones to avoid. Some of these smaller tackle sellers are outstanding. While other ones should be avoided. I just wish we had a spot to spread the word. I deal with a lot of different online tackle shops and tackle discount places. While most are awesome I did have one bad experience so far. This place sold me a new defective product that was broke. Then they told me they might not be able to replace it when there website lists three more items exactly like the one I purchased. We need to avoid these places. I don't care about myself I just don't want to see others get stuck too. Bigbill Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted September 17, 2013 BassResource.com Administrator Posted September 17, 2013 We do not publish "hit lists". There's enough negativity in this world. No need to bring it here too. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 This would be an appropriate outlet for reviewing online stores: http://www.resellerratings.com/ I've found it very useful. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 From our Forum Rules and FAQs: I have a dispute with 'company X'. Can I post about it here? While we can empathize with your frustration, the best course of action is deal directly with the company. Escalate it up the ladder, file a grievance with PayPal or Ebay (if they were involved with the transaction). File a mail fraud complaint with the post office. There are other options, but attacking the company in a public forum is not appropriate nor allowed. Such posts will be removed. Quote
TiNuts Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Just deal with the sponsors of this site, the big stores (bass pro, academy, etc) and you should have nothing to worry about. Quote
Loop_Dad Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Just deal with the sponsors of this site, the big stores (bass pro, academy, etc) and you should have nothing to worry about. Not sure about general comment like that. I have had very positive experience with small ebay outfit and negative experience with others you would think you have nothing to worry about. Quote
TiNuts Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 That's why I said should have nothing to worry about. I've also had very positive dealings through eBay, but I've also had very negative dealings through eBay. There's always an inherent risk when dealing through eBay. I've also had negative experiences through established vendors (not from this site), but the likelihood of a negative experience through the sponsor vendors or big box stores is probably small enough that one doesn't necessarily need to worry. Super User Fishing Rhino Posted September 18, 2013 Super User Posted September 18, 2013 There's an old saying, "You can't please everybody.", and another, "Some people are impossible to please." Both are true. Some complaints are legit, while for others, the complaints are baseless. Others are simply the result of an honest misunderstanding. Customers' reviews of products are helpful. But even there, you'll find that you'll find serious complaints about products that overall receive excellent ratings. There are times when customer service trumps price. When I was lobstering, I bought all my electronics from a local guy, and developed a great customer relationship with him. His prices were a bit higher than the mail order outlets, but, if you made your living on the water, whether a fisherman, took parties on tours of the bay, operated a boatyard, etc., he'd give you priority over non-customers or the recreational guys. On more than one occasion I brought in a radio that was acting up and he'd clear a section of his bench and fix it while I waited. If I had a problem with something like the radar that couldn't be brought into the shop, he'd meet me at my boat after he closed up his shop for the day. If it needed a part he had back at the shop, he'd meet me early in the morning and install the part the next day before opening his shop. When you depend on equipment to make a living, that kind of service is priceless. 2 Quote
