Sports Loyalty....

Yeah i know....i find it sad how many people are missing out on such a great sport.  Some of the most fun is going to a minor league game too.  Prices are more than reasonable and you never know if the guy you are watching will be a star in the bigs later on.

I also think the reason you see younger people at football games is the cost.  To take a family of four to a baseball game you are probably looking at about 125-150 for tickets where for football you are talking 500-600.

I think it's more of the atmosphere than the cost. You go to a football game and the atmosphere is like a party baseball is more like a wedding lol.

As far as price goes if you are a Jaguars or Raiders fan I'd imagine you can take your whole family, aunts cousins uncles included, for around $100 they may even pay you to go to the games they are so bad lol

Minor league games are like a party atleast the two NJ teams I saw treated it like that. I use to go to the Blue Claws game for like $10 and Trenton Thunder games.

Man the Blue Claws stadium is like a carnival mixed with a baseball stadium lol there is so much to do other than watch the team play. Not to mention the beer and food costs WAYYY less than the big leagues.

I remember having to take out a loan everytime I came back from Yankee Stadium! Man their prices are ridiculous.

Whoever released that audio is a snake though and I feel that the coach has a right to speak his mind in private. It would be different if he did an interview and said what he said, I don't have a problem with it.

If our friends, family, or co-workers knew what we say in private I think we all would have some problems we are all guilty of acts like this only difference is that we weren't secretly recorded lol. My only problem is his Ryan Braun apology, come on man own it coach!

Baseball is for the older generation can't be argued

Exactly my point baseball doesn't suck the people today do. Man most people 20-35 are the "me" generation. That is why I tend to get along with that "older generation" than people closer in age. Lol

I have teams I like due to their coaches or the programs (NCAA) that I follow and will bet on, but my loyalty stays with my Jayhawks. We have won just a few games in the last 4 years but my flags still fly

I should be more clear on the wildcard in baseball.  I don't dislike it as much as the format is bad.  There is not as much of an advantage given to the division winners but it is a little different now that the wild card teams most likely burn their #1 starter in the play in game.

 

It should either be a 7 game series, like all the other series or if it stays 5 game then the division winner should get 4 out of the 5 games at home.  It is to easy for a team to get hot and win 3 games out of 5 but add in that extra game and it usually favors the division winners.

 

the other option would be get rid of divisions entirely and just have the top 5 times make it to the playoffs and re seed after each series like hockey.

 

I know many say the wildcard makes it more exciting for more teams which is true but at the same time it kind of kills trade deadline deals because so many teams are still in it.  All this does is keep the weaker teams weak and strengthens all the other teams.  If the teams knew they had to win the division they would be more apt to give up some of their higher ranked prospects in exchange for better players which makes both teams better, one in the short term and the other in the long term.

I hate this new 2 wildcard system per league. The two teams have 1 game to play to decide who gets the wild card position. They at least need to do a series. 1 game  is dumb and does not show who the superior team is. The Braves got screwed out of the wild card last year because of it, when they had more way more season wins than the cards did if i remember correctly.

And i am not sure what kind of weddings you go to but most of the ones i have attended usually end up with someone or multiple people dancing on tables with nothing more than a birthday suit on, drinking champagne straight out of the bottle all hours after the bride & groom are long gone.  Then we go out to the bar.....

Baseballs demise is due to their stubbornness to get on board with technology. They are stuck in "Americas past time" that they forget about the PAST part. Things have changed, the athlete has changed, and more importantly technology has changed but baseball is unwilling too.

I don't think that has anything to do with it, technology just flat out has no place in baseball. It's a traditional game, and that's the way it should stay. Look what all the change has done for football, now you've got a game with constant reviews, constant penalties, and pretty much any form of tackling is now illegal. Defense is gonna be dead in another year or two, and they'll probably have a franchise in London.

 

I can only pray that baseball never changes the way football has.

I don't think you need to worry about that. No sport I feel will change as much as the NFFL has National Flag Football League

The NFL had a good product and no matter how much we all don't like it, something had to be done to prevent some injuries and having players crippled for the rest of their life.

 

That being said, they went a little to far and combine that with the amount of automatic replays and the game has slowed to much for my liking.

 

Protecting the QB is dumb, they are players just like everyone else and should take hits like everyone else.  Nobody should be going after the head of any player but you can't tackle the legs anymore and this combined with bad fundamental tackling is creating some ugly football.

 As a kid in the 60's & 70's - The Celtics were great, The Bruins had some good years, The Red Sox tore your heart out seemed like every year & The "Boston" Patriots were Horrible.

 Through the years and a career in the service moving all over, I always followed these teams.  Helped me stay connected to home.

 

Over the past 40 years it's been one of my life's greatest pleasures to watch and follow these teams through the successes and failures they've each had. 

The excitement, the anxiety, the heartache and the jubilation is just so good. 

Taking my son to games in the old Boston Garden and spending long sunny days at Fenway Park, these are times that are hard to match.

 

 Though I can respect other cities teams and franchises, I will always follow these teams regardless of their place in the standings.
