SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Im looking to restock my supply of beaver type baits. I recently had success with the reaction innovations kinky beaver Okeechobee craw, but they are kinda pricey. Im trying to find the best looking beaver bait that I can get most in a pack with. Most of these baits seem to come in a 5-7 pack for around $5. Does anyone know of any other beaver style baits that come in larger quantities? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 17, 2013 Global Moderator Posted September 17, 2013 Netbait B bug. 10 to a pack for the 4 incher and only $4 with lots of great colors. Quote
kylek Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Netbait B bug. 10 to a pack for the 4 incher and only $4 with lots of great colors. I just switched to these for the same reason. I used them for the first time last weekend and was very impressed. I like the Okeechobee craw and the sprayed grass color they offer. Quote
Super User MCS Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 Gambler ugly otter or bitters bait and tackle muskrat have good products and reasonably priced. The muskrat is a close match to the RI beaver and SK rodent style baits and it is a 10 count bag for 2.99 or 2-5 bucks. Gambler has the 50 and 100 count bags for products usually available at their online store. https://www.bittersbaitandtackle.com/muskrat.html Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 I have the reaction innovation beavers I haven't really used them that much though Quote
SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 I really like everything about the reaction innovations except the price. these other brands are definitely something im interested in Quote
SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 what size B Bug do yall use? Quote
down4ttown Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Tie between the Missile Baits Dbomb or Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver. Number two would be the havoc pit boss! Those three baits will catch some serious fish. Quote
kylek Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 what size B Bug do yall use? I use the standard size one that is 4 inches long. I have been using it with a 3/0 hook and a 1/4 oz weight and doing really well. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 tw has large bags of missle d bombs Quote
Southernjig Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I can't have any luck with the d bombs, caught way more fish on zoom baby brush hog and super hog! Quote
ColdSVT Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I use the RA sweet beaver and smallie beaver A Lot!!! Also like the pit boss and netbait B bug...they all work great Right now the RA smallie beaver seems to be the ticket in northern PA Quote
brandonss Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I use to use the pit boss bit now I'm using the Dean Rojas fighting frog its a awesome bait Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted September 18, 2013 Super User Posted September 18, 2013 Check out the Big Bite Baits Yo Mama. I believe they come 8-10 to a pack and are cheaper. Also, the Zoom Z-Hog and Yum Wooly Bug are a little cheaper than the RI. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted September 18, 2013 Super User Posted September 18, 2013 . Also, the Zoom Z-Hog and Yum Wooly Bug are a little cheaper than the RI. WRONG. Per TW.......... RI Beaver: $4.79 per 10ct. bag.........about .48 per bait Zoom Z-hog $4.59 per 8ct bag..... about .57 per bait Yum Wooly bug $.99 per 8ct bag... that's about .62 per bait Reaction is the cheapest of those choices. 1 Quote

Yep, you're absolutely right. I was basing my statement on the OP saying there were 5-7 per pack. I checked everything else but didn't check that. 1 Quote

I checked everything else but didn't check that. Kinky beavers are 7 per pack, but sweet beavers are 10, that makes the Kinky beavers @ $4.69 per bag ( .67 per bait) more than the Zoom and Yum. So were both wrong, and both right....... Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 18, 2013 Global Moderator Posted September 18, 2013 what size B Bug do yall use? The bigger one, it's listed at 4.3". I fish mine on a 4/0 hook with a 1/4-1/2 ounce pegged bullet weight. The Havoc Pit Boss is another good, cheap bait but I don't really consider it to be a true beaver bait because it has more of a flapping action than a glide like beaver baits. However, since you're fishing the Kinky Beaver, a Pit Boss may be a good alternative for you to check out. They are a great bait and one of my favorite flipping baits. For $2.99 for an 8 pack they're pretty tough to beat. Quote
down4ttown Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Dick's has had sweet beavers on sale the past two times I have went. They were $1.99 a pack. I bought every d**n bag at that price. It must have been a discontinued color for them or something (magic craw swirl- my favorite). I usually only buy craws and beavers. Worms work every now and then, but I have so much more luck with Jigs (craws) and t-rigged beavers. Be open to brands as they will all go on sale at academy. Rage craws were a $1.99 a couple weeks ago so I bought them. Then next week it was havoc products so I bough the pit boss. If you are open to all brands, you can really save some money and get a chance to fish different baits with different actions. Quote
5fishlimit Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I also like the missile baits dbomb. Quote
dreamertino Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 anyone use the zoom z hog as a jig trailer? Quote
Quillback Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 anyone use the zoom z hog as a jig trailer? I haven't but it's on my list of things to try. Quote
Southernjig Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I have the jr on a 3/8 jig! Looks like a super chunk jr so I just use the chunk cause they way cheaper. Quote
dreamertino Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I bought a pack of the z hogs and dont do much punching so they will be used for something lol Quote
