IMO If the flex and tip are exactly the same I don't think a single inch will make a difference.

it didn't make a difference. they just improved the blank. did you find an older 69mlxf spinning rod?

well if you find the older version of the 69mlxf let me know where if you would please. i like the older split grip more than the new ones.  i've been looking for this rod specifically for over a year now for a specific purpose and it seems those who have it won't give it up.

Have you looked for the blank to get a custom rod made?

I have the 6' 10" spinning dropshot. I don't know if the extra inch makes a difference but it is a really nice rod.

I figured they both would be good, preference on the handles are the only opinions that differ, which my wife likes the newer design so I'll get the 6'10 for her and keep my eye on the 6'9's
