Super User rockchalk06 Posted September 16, 2013 Super User Posted September 16, 2013 My order showed up today. All I can say is wow! Tentacles on the tubes were well cut, equal length and have tons of action. The body is very well built too. Exceeded my expectations This is my first time to use a Shakey head jig. These are amazing. Strong hooks and super sharp. I love how the hook point is recessed down to make it easier to texpose the hook. I'm going to enjoy these next days off. I'm going to give the new 733 a work out!m Thanks for the recommendation guys! Quote
5dollarsplash Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I love those mega strike tubes. They work great exactly how your rigging them for smallies in slower rivers and creeks up in nw Wisconsin. Quote
bassh8er Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Haven't tried the tubes but I do enjoy the hooks. Have you ever had tubes that weren't "Well cut and even"???????? Quote

It's been at least 20 years since dad and I caught them on Lake Wilson I've been fishing tubes for several years and never even thought about using a shakey head until Roadwarrior and Bobby suggested it. Next to jigs they are my favorite bait. I've found a whole new way to fish them now Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 Looking forward to your report. Quote
BuffaloBass716 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I have never used any shakey heads either, but I've heard really good things about the Shak-E2 (suppose to be one of the best shakey head jigs). Let us know how they work, im definitely going to pick up some during the winter. What are you guys' favorite shakey heads? Quote

Temp has been dropping and we got a bunch of rain today. I can't speak for any other shakey head jigs, but these are really cool. They fall perfect everytime in my sink. I laid them flat with the tube and they go back to a defensive position each time. Quote

1234567 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Wow those tubes do look great, now I'm thinking I may need to get some. Are those solid or hollow, just wondering if you'll have issues hooking up with the little gap between the body and hook shank. Quote
mattk22 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Shak-e2 are without a doubt the best shakey head jigs i have used. love the idea with the tubes. gonna try that. Roadwarrior, do you work tubes any differently than a normal shakey head setup? Quote
5dollarsplash Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Roadwarrior, do you work tubes any differently than a normal shakey head setup? I'm no RW, but I give them a tad more "bounce" than say a normal shakey worm if I'm using them in a lake without much natural water movement. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I designed the butt part the last 1/2 inch of it to be solid -It was designed that way to hold the screw lock shakeys and the Texas rigged hooks better. 1 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 17, 2013 Super User Posted September 17, 2013 No, not me. I think a subtle movement is key. On the RoadTrip at Pickwick last spring I fished the ShakE2 Pro Series and Siebert Outdoors Zenith shakey head. Both performed well and this technique was my #1 producer. p.s. The MegaStrike Mega Tube Craw is hollow and grooved to accomodate the hook shank. Quote

The gap for the hook point is hollow and very easy to rig. Quote

KDW96 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Didnt know part of the tube was solid? Headed to megastrike or TW now Quote

BuffaloBass716 Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Old topic but I have a new question, Would these work in slight current without the bait falling over? Also, would these work with other tubes, not just the Megastrike tubes? I know they have a solid part for the screw lock to sit in but I want to use a smaller tube as well as the Megastrike ones. Super User roadwarrior Posted April 8, 2014 Super User Posted April 8, 2014 The short answer...YES! Quote

Bobby Uhrig Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 The new EWG Shakeys are really good for fishing tubes. The tubes have move plastic/gap so the EWG has more clearance than regular /standard hooks. Quote
