What Worm Works Best?

Ok gents I have a question that will help me and a few others out. I fish a tough location with medium pressure, and there is no structure for the bass to hide, and the water in green with very little movement. If you were to pick the one go to finesse worm what would it be, and how would you rig it up? Please be very specific with sizes and colors!

A green pumpkin trick worm is pretty tough to beat for a good, all around finesse worm. I'd fish it on a light Texas rig with a 3/0 hook.

May I suggest throwing a Zoom green pumpkin trick worm on a shaky head followed by a wacky rigged Zoom trick worm on a shaky head followed by a Senko and then a craw-type presentation with your Texas rigged finesse worm (Berkley, Zoom Culprit, Gambler, etc.) ready to go in an instance's notice.

 

I agree with Bluebasser on the green pumpkin color. However, use your most confident color in addition to green pumpkin. Actually, make that green pumpkin with black flake.

Y'all gonna be throwing worms so I'll be throwing a Rage Craw Falcon Lake color on a light Texas rig or maybe a Baby Brush Hog Watermelon Neon.

First of all, I'm a HUGE fan of the Rage Tail 10" Thumper.

However, the 5" Senko in your favorite color rigged weightless

will produce greater numbers. The Fat Ika is another "must have".

 

Next, Rage-rigged Rage Craw or Lobster.

 

Brand new: Rage Tail Cut-R.

 

Under the radar: MegaStrike MegaBug and Craw Tube.

These can be rigged any way you like, but my suggestion

is to Rage Rig the MegaBug and fish the Craw Tube on a

ShakE2 Pro Series.

 

Last, but not least: GYCB 6.5" Kut Tail rigged on a ShakE2 Pro Series.

As far as worms go, first I would probably try a Rage Tail Recon Worm in green pumpkin. I usually texas rig these with 1/4oz weight and a 5/0 hook. No, its not finesse, but I can fish it faster and if the the fish are on to it I prefer to catch them that way. If that is not working I would probably switch to a shakey head worm. I mostly use either Zoom Trick or Finesse Worms, depending on what the fish are doing. Again, I like watermelon/green pumpkin colors here, but I will also throw junebug a lot on a shakey head. From there, weightless wacky or texas rig senko style worms. Still, I usually start with a green pumpkin but will go to other colors. A 7in Rage Tail Thumper is another worm I like a lot. I usually throw it on a 2/0 or 3/0 hook with a 3/16oz weight.

I would need to see the water and fish activities, but one possibility based on what you said would be 4" dinger green pumpkin or green pumpkin/chart t-rigged with 1/16 oz 1/8 oz bullet weight, but again it depends. Also, I often rotate my baits trying to look for color that works.

Green pumpkin is my go to color for bass... I also like cinnamon blue flake, but that color have been hard to find lately. Tomorrow i'll try Bass pro shops's Okeechobee Magic stick-os... Good luck

there are two important factors in my weightless soft plastics.  1-plop/splash entry  2-rate of fall.

if i def wanted to catch fish, dinks included, i'd use a zoom finesse worm. any color as long as its black. it doesn't matter how hard you cast, it will still splash down gently like a tasty worm snack that just fell out of a tree.  and the rate of fall is very slow.  good factors for pressured fish.

you will catch TONS of dinks with it. 

 

after you get bored taking the dinks off ur hook take the next step up to a super fluke. it's rate of fall is great and erratic.  5" senkos and 7" ribbon tails are in this league too. ironically the rate of fall is slower and splash is softer with the 7" ribbon.  and it's bulky profile attracts bigger fish.   a 2/0 hook works for any of these; color: start with black and experiment from there.

 

the 10" ole monster separates the dinks from hawgs. not so good on pressured water (except at night; or spring/fall). it actually isn't that big--thin 5" worm with 5" of ribbon. long dead sticks with slow drags can be deadly.

^{Looks like a lot of green pumkin fans which is my overall favorite color. I will recommend three colors that should work: green pumkin (it has worked everywhere I have ever fished except pond 25 on FT Leonard Wood, MO), solid black (it works in any water color), final is whatever matches the bottom where you are fishing. As for baits most will work but  I will list a few below that work for me for reference.}
