AJMichigan Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 I would go scout the quarry first, and look around for business/houses. Also with private ponds, if you have the guts I would go knock on some doors and ask nicely if they mind if you fish in there. Most of the time if you ask first and be respectful they wont mind. I realize this may be tough to do especially if you don't know the people. Quote
Fish_Whisperer Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 This is some advice I gave to a guy who came down from Ny for a couple months.... The way I get permission is worked out pretty well. I show up wearing nice clothes, absolutely no fishing gear on first meet. Knock on peoples doors and start a convo, I tell em I like to fish and am interested in their property. Few tips tho... Tell them the only thing you take when you leave is trash and pictures. Let them know you practice catch and release UNLESS they have certain kinds of fish they actually want rid of. Sucks if you like to keep em but the best ponds with the giant fish are usually stocked by the owner and they wanna keep the fish in it. Also, mention you'll only fish by yourself or with a partner, and the partner will never come by himself or bring other people. If you aint the lazy type, offer to weedeat the banks once a month. Thats basically it man, show up wanting to talk only, be nice and look nice, talk like you listened in school, and you got a good chance. Lotta people dont like to use my method, but all they can say is no lol. Good luck. Quote
