Jucas97 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Hey yall, headed to lake Badin this weekend in NC and I've asked alot of people that live there and they said the bass are schooling so the fishing should be good, I do not own a boat sadly, so ill be sticking to the bank and the pier that goes out a fairly good ways. (Roughly 200 feet) Everyone at this lake love striper fishing and they claim alot of the stripers are under the pier at this point of time due to the water temperature. The water is fairly clean there so i went out and purchased some more natural colored crankbaits and some green pumpkin soft plastics, Just any advice would be nice... This is also the first time I've been to a lake in 3 months, i fish at my neighbor Richards pond mostly. Quote

BassAssassin726 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I dont own a boat either so Im always on the bank. You can catch tons of quality fish from the bank. You just have to find the places nobody goes. I regularly treck through thick woods looking for secluded spots. If you can find a secluded spot with some kind of structure and cover youre mint. If youre afraid of spiders, ticks and other bugs its not the kind of thing youll like. But if they dont bother you then like i said treck and find those spots that only boats usually can get to. 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 16, 2013 Super User Posted September 16, 2013 You don't need a boat to catch fish. I find that even fishing a heavily pressured place you can still catch fish in used water if your throwing the correct lure. I see many shore fisherman beat the water up for no success. I also switched from fishing in the evenings when the area is crowded to fishing in the early am after the area calms down. At this time being stealthy is the key so we don't spook the fish that are close to us. They do offer a vertical jig for striped bass. You could use it off the pier the same way they use it from a boat. They also use surgical tubing eels too in saltwater for strippers too, I'm sure they do feed on freshwater eels too. Don't forget the topwater plugs too. Bill 1 Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 16, 2013 Super User Posted September 16, 2013 My advice to you would be rig up your pole, drop that line in the water, have fun and catch some fish 1 Quote
Jucas97 Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 Thanks for all the tips yall.... didn't catch anything at Badin, but we went to lake Randleman and i caught some fairly nice bass on a "foxy shad" Zara spook and a "baby bass" torpedo. Hit beaver creek dam on the way home and was throwing a square bill sexy shad crank bait and was nailing 1-3 pound bass like it was nothing. It appeared no one had fished where me and my cousin were fishing and they were just slaying our crankbaits. Quote
