Dilemma On A Weekend Sale! What To Do!

Okay so here is the dilemma, what I have

 

7'3mh duckett with lews speed spool 6.4:1 /bottom contact jig and texas rig and pitching to docks.

 

7' skeet reese spinnerbait/worm rod with 5.4:1 reel for cranks and spinnerbaits.. I dont like it for any sensitivity application such as bottom contact

 

6' spinning combo/ light t-rig and shaky head

 

6'spinning combo/ sqaurebills and light tackle apps

 

I also have a *** *** 7'3H on the way paired with lews speed spool 7.1:1 for froggin/ pitching to the nasty

 

My local bait and tackle has Skeet Reese rods 39.99 across the board.. 

 

Should I get another one.. (NO I will not use one for bottom contact) I would kinda like one for cranking and traps..... but not sure.. also potentially spinning

 

Money is limited so that could go towards something else down the road other things I want one day (another Duckett or a Dobyns Savvy/Champion for another t-rig/jig rod

 

SO If you say yes I should get one.. which one and for what application.. Spinning/casting/ rod etc.. THANKS GUYS.. I pull my hair out with sales due to indecisiveness.. also thinking.. I dont have a reel to pair with the new rod either.. UH OH!! Stupid Monkey GET OFF MY BACK!

All I can say to do is go with your first gutt feeling. If I second guess myself I pass and wait till I decide. I don't like to pass up any sales "if" it's what I want. I don't substitute a sale item for what I really want. Or I kick myself later when I end up with two anyway.think it over. Bigbill

Personally, I would save my money and save it up for one of the other rods you mentioned. I've jumped at deals just because they're deals and wind up regretting it later.

I have one of the glass rods. They're ok but certainly entry level. I have heard bad things about the durability and construction of the graphite rods.

So to add to the dilemma.. I got two options tomorrow.. I could buy 2 rods and 1 reel tomorrow (2 skeet reese 7'6 c-rig/swimbait rods, 1 for cranking, 1 for frogs, and a 7.1:1 lews speed spool for froggin) OR... what I had originally planned (a *** *** black 7'3H for froggin/lews speed spool 7.1:1 reel)... 

 

If price were not an option. what would you guys do!

interestingly they carry dobyns too.. I could get a dobyns champ 25% off tomorrow.. that is a thought... but I am really looking for a froggin rod.. not another bottom contact. which if I was spending big bucks (TO ME) on a champ... it would not be for froggin..

ALSO.. I already throw duckett.. and could stick to that..  but they dont have what I would want in a duckett in stock.. but will for black friday.. DECISIONS DECISIONS... any help that way?

If i were you, i would get a dobyns champ 735. put on 65lb or 50lb braid, use it as a frog rod and it will be an excellent jig/ heavy cover rod,  i have the champ extreme 745 ( same as 735 but 1inch longer) and its got to be the most versital rod i own. frogging, flippin, dragging a carolina rig, light punching. its a beast rod.

 

but for real though, if you can grab a dobyns champ 735 for 25% off, hop on it.

I am not in need of a cranking stick so much as a froggin stick lol... like that makes sense.. and yeah if I was getting a dobyns I would get the 735.. I cant decide if it is worth the extra 80-120 bucks depending on sales to get the dobyns over the duckett.. I know there is plenty of talk on it in the forums.. I had also planned on getting the ***. to try 13 out.. cuz if I liked the ***.. I could get the ***.. and I have heard they are as good as extremes... UGH...

since you already ordered the ***, dont get another rod till you fish with the *** for a while. they truly are a good rod IMHO, i have 3 of em. fish that *** with a variety of technique's and if you like it, stay with it. save you money right now, dont purchase those skeet reese rods. save money for a better rod down the road. just stick with the *** and lews reel you have on order.

I dont "have" to get the ***.. its on order.. but I am sure if I slammed down and said.. nah let me get that dobyns champ they would be like SOLD!... what about the savvy micro? you got any of those

If you wanted a dedicated frog rod only, myself, I would go with a saavy. It's not a technique that's going to required that much sensitivity.

for 50 bucks cheaper I can get a ***.. which I have heard good reviews... and if I like them delve into the ***... the savvy price point is kinda where I am at for my bottom contact.. which is why I have liked my duckett.. but I do wonder alot.. "I wonder if that dobyns champ would be THAT much better.. I can get ducketts at about 135-145.. the champ at the CHEAPEST is 210... thats another speed spool..... just saying..

All valid points. I love my 733 just as much as my 745.

It all boils down to what your comfortable with spending. No complaints on the Ducketts. They are good rods.

If money is tight as you stated in the OP I wouldn't be buying anything.  Sounds like money you can't spare is burning a hole in your pocket.  Doesn't look like you will be missing many fishing days with what you already own.

Just to update you guys on my decision. I went ahead and got a Skeet Reese c/rig swimbait rod that I can use for deeper cranks and heavier moving baits.. I also am still getting the *** 13 black 7'3 heavy as well as a speed spool reel for the ***.. the reel for the swimbait rod will come at christmas..  Now on to another thought.. I could use that c-rig/swimbait rod for froggin.. do I A.frog with that rod and get either a 7'3 sub a.MH ORsub b. H *** for bottom contact B. Get the *** for froggin and use the c-rig/swimbait rod for deeper cranks and heavy swim jigs... or C. use the c-rig swimbait rod for froggin and not get an *** and save for another Duckett or Dobyns Savvy.. and dont say get a champ.. because I think I am going to rule that out of my budget permanently as this could get out of hand. WHAT DO YOU BOYS SAY!.. thanks for following this thing so long guys.. you have helped a bunch

Here is my suggestion, put some line on one of those reels you have, pick a rod and go fishing.
