JWOA Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Has anyone used the Money Minnow I may set this lure up for mi Alabama rig. Or just t-rig it. What size hooks do you guys use? I know in the transition that shad is released ,and I see bunch of minnows and thinking about getting some of these. Thanks for the Help Guys, Jay White Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 I never have used an A-Rig. I lie the money minnow and I use it with a weighted screwlock wide gap hook, i use trokar or gammy. Weight and hook sized is adjusted for the size but i usually go with the 5/0 for the 5". Big key is rigginit it dead on straight or go with the Doug Stange method where you rig it on it's side. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 Any bait I've used on an umbrella rig has used a simple swimbait jighead, with an exposed hook. Buckeye Lures makes a great head for this, with a very strong hook. http://www.buckeyelures.com/jwill_swimbait_head.shtml Quote
Scorcher214 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Rig mine on a screwlock hook most of the time. Also, Try out a sworming hornet. It's a jig head with a willow blade on the bottom. Absolutely killer when paired up with a LFT magic shad. Never tried them on a money minnow but I'm sure it wouldn't e a bad setup. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 The hook size depends on the kind of money minnow your using. There are fat body ones and thinner ones I use the screw in hooks with no weight so I can watch it work closer to the surface. I twitch it like a dying minnow. I did have a lot of strikes with no hook ups with it. To me it's an awesome bait if I can come up with a simple trailer hook for it. Bb I did have one hook up with a very big fish in November. Quote
