Fishing is slow, but big ones are finally moving in brush piles.  You can catch some school fish in 18-22’ on points and ledges also.

I haven’t talked to anyone shallow. I’d imagine there is a decent frog and squarebill bite though

I will be on Rayburn this weekend. 1st time since October. Anyone have a current pattern.

I’m glad you found some ?

I caught 166 today on Rayburn.  PM me and I’ll give some info, just don’t want it public for the world to see.

Was back on Rayburn yesterday.  We boated 72 bass.  Caught some on shallow points with a trap and some out deep in 18-22’.  Big fish was a little over 6lbs.  The lake is fishing as good as I’ve ever seen it right now.

I want to go this spring. What month would be ideal for catching a lot of fish?

April should have a good topwater bite, but May is absolutely my favorite time for numbers.

Thanks. Would early April be a good time for the spawn and topwater?

It looks like my vacation may be March 19-22 so I may have to go sooner than April.

It’s almost always good there. Those days should be good. Good luck.

You will catch fish in March.  If you want to fish down the bank with a senko, jig, Spinnerbait, etc that would be the time to go.  In May it will be more of an offshore deal, but you can catch 50-100 everyday

Still going up there Thursday. What areas would yall recommend with the South Wind blowing hard?

Posted

Southwest wind?  Anywhere on the West Bank from the Black Forest to the dam. Other than that hopefully BF will answer.

I’d launch at Cassell Boykins and stay in Pophers all day.  Plenty of bushes in the canyons and the back of Pophers and good offshore stuff in there as well.

Great! I had fished some of that area a couple of years ago. I'll be staying by the dam if that helps any closer spots.

Would buck bay area be suicide tomorrow?

Not necessarily. Just stay on south banks and you will be fine

Thank yall for the info. I'll be there around noon. Hopefully, the wind is lower than predicted.

Fished mill creek area Thursday and caught 9. It was tough and biggest was about 4.5. They liked watermelon red.

Fished buck bay and the canyons Friday in the rain and Saturday. Didn't have any luck catching there

The last few weeks several persons, including myself, are having a hard time finding a bite of any kind. All of us normally have no problem finding fish. We all normally do well this time of year. Talk at the ramp states the same. Anyone care to venture what is happening?

I don’t know what is happening but it is fishing very different than normal.  We are finding a lot of fish offshore and catching plenty of fish, but it is almost impossible to catch anything over 3lbs.  Usually the fall bite is some of the best for numbers and size, but this year there is hardly any size at all.  If I go looking for size, I may only get 2-3 bites all day.

Thanks for the reply. I will be @ Powell next Tuesday thru Thursday. Maybe this front will get em on the shad better. Shad, creek bends, ledges, drains, frogs, cranks, two weeks ago got nada for me and friends. The few I found were dinks in 8-10' hydrilla. I'll keep looking, at least now I know there is a bite offshore!
