it has just started before this last cold front, I fished 5different areas and only caught 1 fish from each. One was 8# fish moved a little deeper because of the front,big one was in brush.

Here are the big girls, jigs had hollow body swim baits for trailers

Also caught them on light Texas rigged June bug trickworms around the brush and bean stalks,fished around Harvey creek and buck bay

Does anyone think the apparent front pushing in Friday night will push the fish out this weekend?

I personally do not think so. I do not think that it got cold enough. We found 63 degree water in some of the creeks a couple of weeks ago. This past front did not get cold enough to drop the temperature that much.

Can anyone tell me what or where they call the brickyard on Sam Rayburn?I have never heard of this area, maybe we call it something else.......?

thats a new one on me too  must be up the lake  I nerver heard it mentioned on the south end.  Unless like you say  we have been calling it something else.

It seems commen that the old timers called things by different names than we find on the maps today. I am on a quest to locate brushy creek / cove on Rayburn that I used to fish with my uncle 20 years ago. I know its west of where Letney landing used to be, and was within about 20 mins run in my old 16' flat bottom. Ive narrowed it down but not knowing how fast the boat was sure makes my search area larger. One of these days im just going to have to go cove by cove until I find something that rings a bell.

 

Sat was windy on the lake, but we caught 12-13 fish in shallow water. No size, biggest was about 3.5-4. At least I think ive located enough fish for the boys to catch a limit for their high school tournement this weekend. Water was 65 and stained.

_{I just found this site, and am on Sam rayburn and Toledo Bend a lot. I am a rookie for I cant seam to find any good fish. I dont have the know how to find fish, I am the captain for my boy's Team fishing the High school tournament, Right now they are in 77th place and would like to find some good fish for them. Fished this last weekend on Toledo Bend in six mile, we had a company tournament, only weighed in two fish that weighed 3.43, I need to join a club to get better at this, my father is a cat fisherman, always running trott lines, and me never having someone to mentor me. Please help I am so lost. I do have a ranger boat with a HDS 10 and a 7, would almost do anything to become a better bass fisherman, I am so tired of fishing tournaments where all I am doing is donating money to Castletine, Jonston, Newberry, (Danny - Steven Jonstons son), Rambo anf others. So until I learn how to fish more productive im going to stay away from Tournaments. I just love the compitition though.}

Arval, were in the same boat so to speak, though mines a Broadhead, not a Ranger, and I dont do the tourney thing except as boat captain. Read read read. Theres tons of info on here and I have no doubt that it has helped me, though full livewells are still a thing Im working for. At this point I feel that the main thing I need is more time on the water. Reading the information, and putting it to use is one thing, but just because the area looks good on a map dosnt mean that the fish are actually there. Where ya from?

Sam rayburn, just can't find groups of fish for the boys and what to use, I'm not a site fisherman, don't know what or how to do it really need a mentor, to show me how to be a better fisherman

What do we do to create cover and habitat for bass, is this a good way to win more tournaments, don't know If this would help, and or how do you locate the fish to better chances.

Good Morning Everyone  I wanted bragg on Hunter this morning  he fished the YFL tournament on Conroe this weekend and  posed a new personal best  7.46lb bass which won him Big bass and big stringer. 

 

He and his partner Chase will be on Rayburn this weekend for the High School event, but due to my work schedule we aren't getting to get on the water this week.   We did have a  pattern in the last  tournament shallow,  but it was  small keepers.  Hoping some  bigger ones have moved into those areas for this event.

Thats a nice fish, congrats. Avryl, I was trying to find a thread on the structure vs cover that was extremly helpful, but have been unable to locate it so far. I believe there may have been a link to it somewhere in the 200+ pages on the toledo thread. Catt was pretty active in it as well and was full of good info.

Read Read Read. When we first started the High School thing, I told my boys to start reading on here, theres tons of good info. I have a lot to learn my self, I told them I wasnt very good at finding the fish, and that it would be a learning experience for us all. I think were doing better, but have a long way to go.
