papajoe222 Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Although fall isn't officially here, as far as the fish are concerned, it's definately knocking on our door. I was wondering about other angler's strategies when it comes to the depth they darget during the fall months. The majority of the lakes I target in the fall are natural lakes, but like impoundments the fish still follow the bait. Up here, the bass target the bluegill and minnows and the walleye will target the perch. Two different forages and two different depth preferences when it comes to forage. What is the dominate depth factor in your fall fishing? Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 Even through fall aint officailly here (SE Texas\SW Louisiana) the bass don't know it and have into coves 3 weeks ago. Because of its size Toledo Bend has a unique set circumstances that occur during spring and fall. While some bass move into coves and can be found "bank shallow", others stay out offshore and shallow for them is 12-15'. So depending on your technique preferences you can target either or both. Super User Bankbeater Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 A few weeks ago when it was cool here the bass were shallow, back in coves and pockets. Since it has warmed back up, the bass are back in the deep water hanging around the vegetation. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 everywhere, anywhere , over there looks good to me........ bam 5 pounder!! Quote
Super User Raul Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 I wish I could offer some advice but unfortunately I can´t, in my neck of the woods "fall" means more a change in the duration of the daylight tan a change in the climatic conditions. Quote
BradGuenette Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Things are changing pretty quick up here in Canada we are already have cool nights where it's getting down to 5 degrees Celsius. For me the fall bite for smallies has always been deep 18-25fow, ledges, humps ect. I also find the largies stage up on weed lines in 10-15fow. Quote
bassguytom Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Look over there! Where? There! There goes Jeannie with her new bass friend.... They are on the feed this time of year so I go shallow then deep to target fish. Sorry for the corny song reference things just pop into my mind sometimes. Quote
quanjig Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Joe Jackson. Follow the bait. The bass follow the bait. Quote
