Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Worm

This worm has been working good for me lately, except for one thing...the tail get cut off too easy. I am not sure fish biting them off, or they get cut off when I yank them out from the weeds. I use them in heavy weeds. I hate this because often times the rest of the worm is perfectly fine.

 

Anyone see the same issue? Maybe better alternative?

I use bitter's bait version. It has never been an issue with these, dunno if it is more durable plastic or thicker base at tail. I also like them because the have a hook slot and scent over the zoom versions

If you have to yank this particular worm out of the weeds, then you are rigging it wrong. Make sure the hook point is just below the surface of the worm. It should then glide on top of the weeds without getting snagged.

Ditto for the Bitter's Bait and Tackle version. They use a "tougher" plastic in their baits and they will hold up better. And the price can't be beat.

I have not had any experience with the bitter bait. However, I have used the zoom ultra vibe speed worms for years, they are durable, but if you come across a short fish and you set and miss there is a possibility of worm missing the tail. Yanking it out of weeds, will also cause a worm to rip. Now if you guys are telling me that those bitter vibe worms can with stand those scenario's then I will consider switching.

Adding a little oil based scent will help to cut down on that tail catching the weeds.  As great as the action is on these, if you're going to get into the weeds with them rather that presenting them above or along a weed edge, you'll be loosing some tails.  Don't fret though, just use the remaining worm for wacky or shakey head presentations.

I don't use them not only glide on top of the weeds, but in between weeds, including dropping in the holes as well.

You're right. I did catch some on this worm after tail being chopped off.

Bitter bait like MCS said makes a more durable version. I use the zoom a lot and the tails do come off easily and it's useless after that to me. Surprisingly I haven't had that happen with the bitter, I only have one pack in june bug and zooms I use watermelon red

After the tail comes off the remainder of the lure can be fished like a Senko and you'd be surprised at the results you can get with them.
