teamshrink Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I'm looking for a bag that will help me carry a bunch of stuff, but be easy to use in tournaments. What do y'all recommend? Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 Bps pro qualifier (~$16) fits 5 3600 boxes in the main part with a small FTO spinnebait box on top. The larger front pocket holds 2 3601 boxes (thin 3600's). Side pocket holds worm wrap, other side pocket for tools or line. Two small pockets on front for spools, leader rolls, scents, mend it. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted September 9, 2013 Super User Posted September 9, 2013 id go with that! 1 Quote
tbone1993 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 kvd elite series bag. Its huge and holds everything I need as a coangler. Its less about the bag and more about the boxes you use inside them. If you use actual spinnerbait boxes and crankabit boxes you will be better organized and can fit more stuff. Especially if you use the thin boxes for hooks and such. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted September 9, 2013 Super User Posted September 9, 2013 but the kvd bag is $80!!! I have one but only paid 50 so if can find one online for cheap get that it holds a lot of tackle more than enough for a co-angler. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 10, 2013 Super User Posted September 10, 2013 When I was doing the co-angler thing, I found that 2 small to medium bags beat 1 large bag. Total weight would be roughly the same. As a co-angler, there is the stuff that you "might" need versus the stuff that you are going to need. The bag full of the "might need stuff" got shoved into a bin or up underneath the console. If was a way for me to feel like I had brought enough stuff without tripping over it as much. Quote
mattk22 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I have the Cabela's Magnum Advanced Angler Bag, I love it. Quote
teamshrink Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 I was looking at the Cabelas Magnum and Super Magnum. Do you think they're OK or too big to bring to a tourney? Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 I was looking at the Cabelas Magnum and Super Magnum. Do you think they're OK or too big to bring to a tourney? You'd be hard pressed to get those in a compartment on any boat except maybe a Ranger 522, when you fish as a co-angler. If you put it by your feet get ready for reel and rod handles getting tangled in the straps and consider amputating your legs. I have found that keeping it clean and simple (no clutter outside of the compartment you get) makes the tournament much easier and enjoyable. I also plan around the smallest boat I'll fish out of and just keep it the same. If it works in a Z-6 it'll fit the 522 just fine. Quote
mattk22 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 The Super Magnum is huge and would take up to much space. I fish with my Magnum every tournament I fish as a co-angler. and it does fit in the rear compartment of a Z7 my partner has. Now saying that, it wouldn't fit in the rear compartment of my Pantera II. I like it at my feet though, that way I don't have to get it out of the compartment to get anything in any of the pockets. I think they are fantastic, my partner did too, he bought one after he saw mine to use in my boat. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted September 13, 2013 Global Moderator Posted September 13, 2013 I've had 3 different bags in the last year, 2 BPS Stalker, and a Cabellas [don't remember the model name] They were alright but I average 2 tournaments a month as a co-angler and really didn't like any of them. There was always something missing, or something in the wrong spot, or something else that was too big or too small for what I wanted. I now have a Flambeau AZ8 which to me is perfect. It's not too wide or too long which is just right for putting it between your legs when moving with the big motor on, or on the pedestal between the seats, on the passenger seat when fishing. It has the right size pockets in the right place, the right size tool and accessory pouches etc. Check it out, you may like it. If you think it's too tall, there are smaller versions also, the AZ6 and AZ4. Mike Quote
