I've had a summer of failed attempts at bass fishing and am still very new to it. Today I decided to hit a local pond before work and it paid off! I caught this guy on a Bomber crankbait that I picked up recently. I'm not sure how large it was but I'd guess 2-3 lbs? It matters not though. I'm hoping this is at least a start to a fall fishing season full of bass! :)

Congratulations. That's a good looking fish. I'm sure before long you'll have long lost count of how many you've caught. Caught my first bass on a blue w/ blue fleck t-rigged curly tail worm. I know I'll never forget that fish.

Outstanding! Fantastic! Great! Wonderful!

You have caught the "bug," too.

Congratulations on a good catch and may this be the first of many.

Don't forget your needle nose pliers to remove hooks.

Congratulations! I still remember my first bass. Caught it on a crankbait off a community dock on the lake nearby last year. it was maybe 1/2 lb but I was overjoyed to catch that fish.

I know it must be exciting to catch your first bass, especially when you've been trying for so long without any luck. You start to feel like it's never going to happen and then......BAM they'll surprise you. Keep fishing and you'l start to learn better and better spots. I think a lot of people get frustrated with bass fishing because they can never find them. Once you find an ideal spot that you know you're gonna catch something, the addiction is on!

Good fish and good luck.

Thanks everyone! I kept my self interested between bass hunting by fishing trout and crappie that I knew I could find. At least I was catching some kind of fish to bring me back to the ponds every couple of days. Persistence paid off. I am most definitely addicted!

I still remember my first bass caught on artificial. I was probably about 12, got him on a purple off brand trick worm lookin thing rigged on a bait holder hook. You now have the bug, congrats on the fish!

Congrats to a fellow Rhody Basser. If I can recommend a good way to start to learn this wonderful sport, is to read the articles on this site that explain the basic fundamentals.

Congrats..... it always starts with just one.

You will now find yourself driving past bodies of water thinking... "I bet there is good fishin' there!"
