Diggy Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Jig looks nice especially some of the color schemes but I cant see myself paying 9.99 a pop for something I will probably lose easily, especially when you can get more for the same money. It is made with tungsten opposed to lead but its still a good amount for a jig at the end of the day. Anyone going to take the plunge? this is what they claim on the description: Made with Jackall’s pre-bent, “spider leg” skirting, the Jackall Spade T.G. Jig moves through the water with a full-bodied, fluffed-up action that’s unlike anything U.S. bass have ever seen. Designed with a unique spade-shaped head as well, the Jackall Spade T.G. Jig is built using high-quality tungsten, which makes it harder and more compact than lead. These properties allow the Jackall Spade T.G. Jig to have more maneuverability and more sensitivity than lead jigs of the same weight. When worked along the bottom, the Jackall Spade T.G. Jig forces trailers to stand up and deliver an irresistible presentation that is enhanced by the wild action of the “spider legs.” Equipped with a fiber weedguard, the Jackall Spade T.G. Jig delivers a highly individualized look that will have bass doing a double take before they take the bait. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 absolutely..................not. i throw jigs in places you aren't supposed to get them back. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Northland's Crazy legs shirt give you the same action. Terry Oldham's Eye Max jig has a better hook, weed guard, & head design. 2 Quote
5dollarsplash Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 The word "Spade" is in the description. Definiton: a tool for digging, having an iron blade adapted for pressing into the ground with the foot and a long handle commonly with a grip or crosspiece at the top, and with the blade usually narrower and flatter than that of a shovel To me that means getting hung up more and losing baits more. I can do that plenty with a $3 dollar jig, and won't be so bad at the end of the day. The head just looks like it would be good at wedging itself in bad places to me. Quote

I know boulders and rocks that would love to add that 10$ to their collection of baits wedged between em.. Quote
flipin4bass Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I seldom lose cranks and top water baits, but jigs...I lost 4 in under an hour earlier this summer fishing some rock piles. I don't think I have the courage to flip a 10 dollar jig. Quote
JeziHogg Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 That price is a little extreme just for a jig. Quote
CPBassFishing Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I will happily pay up to $100 for a hard swimbait because the chance of losing one is very low. I would never buy a $10 jig. I lose way too many jigs for that. $5 is my limit for a jig. Quote
sarcazmo Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 No thanks.Ten dollars is pretty ridiculous. Quote
SGT Rico Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Who ever was in-charged of pricing this jig should have his or her head checked! 10 bills for a FLIPPING jig! That's nonsense, so it has a tungsten head and an unknown hook? What makes it worth 9.99? Quote
sarcazmo Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Just started making my own jig skirts. After messing around there must be an INSANE profit margin on this jig. Quote
Super User Grizzn N Bassin Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 idk I bought a few mops jigs from my local tackle shop 7.99 a pop.. and I just lost one of then.. I don't think I need a tungsten weight to tell me what is on the bottom where I already fish Quote
poundtowne Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 I bought 4 of them 3 months ago when they hit the market. I was waiting for them to be sold in the US ever since I spotted them on Jackall's website. I bought 2 watermelon candy and 2 pumpkin candy. They are awesome. They outfish other jigs in my opinion and if you watch them in the water the skirt looks just like crawdad legs. I am purchasing amber craw, green pumpkin (i lost the other 2 on hangups), and black and purple today as a matter of fact. Honestly, they are worth it. I took 3rd place in my club classic this year and I caught almost all of my fish on the spade jig and Jackall Dart Hog. Advice: the watermelon candy isn't a good color in my opinion. It's too bright and the color looks very artificial. Its not as natural looking in person as in the pics. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 5, 2013 Super User Posted November 5, 2013 Tungsten is expensive - the material, tools, and process to make a jig like this is not cheap. Add in freight from Japan, and the curent JPY to USD exchange, and you get a $10 jig. I'm sure it works great in certain spots, but a Siebert Outdoors or Northstar jig is home grown, wire tied, and 1/3 the price. Lastly, unless we're talking jigs over 1 oz., I see ZERO advantage to using tungsten. I have quite a few Keitech tungsten jigs, and while they may be a bit "more sensitive," I don't think that added info is useful to catching fish at all. The jig and worm rods I use are plenty sensitive for me to be able to tell what's down there with a painted lead head jig. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted November 5, 2013 Super User Posted November 5, 2013 The cost of a jig at $10 is a tad steep. When Mike at Siebert Outdoors offers us any color combination. I think Mike could make us a fatty jig for less. Plus he is one of our sponcers too. So far what Mike has sent me looks like some good quality jigs too me. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 5, 2013 Super User Posted November 5, 2013 In fact, look what was just announced....http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/tungsten-jigs-2 Quote
rayrock99 Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I brought a couple haven't thrown them yet. But when I buy tungsten jig I buy them because the noise they make when they bounce off rock cant be matched by a lead head jig. Most times they key off that noise and will get bite when a lead jig won't get touched. It has happened plenty of times fishing with my friend, when I'm smoking them and they aren't getting a bite using the same color. Soon they will be asking me for a tungsten jig! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted June 5, 2014 Super User Posted June 5, 2014 I am VERY happy with Siebert, NorthStar and MegaStrike jigs. These three BassResource sponsors take a great deal of pride in building all of their products. I have had great success with all of their products, including their jigs. Quote
TorqueConverter Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Bumping this thread because I bought one of these things. Just a heads up, this jig has a hook that is microscopic and the weedguard is super light. I would strongly discourage anyone from picking one of these up thinking it's some sort of flipping jig but smallmouth and spotted bass guys should take notice. Quote
boostr Posted October 18, 2014 Posted October 18, 2014 Bumped again.. They are on sale at Dick's for $7.50. If you need a Jig right away, and can't wait for delivery heres your chance to try one out. Bought two today, but I got them for like 5 bucks because of my rewards discount and survey coupon. I actually went to Dick's to see if they had some Arky Jigs from Strike King or somebody to try out before I made an order to Sieberts, and I wanted them for tomorrow. They did'nt have any in the color I wanted (black/blue... the bass have been killing this color lately) so I saw these in the B/BL, and they were on sale plus my discounts so it wasnt a bad price. It's not a true Arky but similar. These are just spur of the moment filler, I will still be ordering from Seibert Once the fishing for me stops up here which will be soon... unless I had a boat I could be out longer... Next year Boostr, next year... I keep on telling myself. Just a heads up is all. Quote
Super User WRB Posted October 18, 2014 Super User Posted October 18, 2014 A jig that is designed to be fished horizontal in sparse cover lieu of vertical in heavy cover, should have a strong medium/ light wire hook. The reason is better hook sets when the jig is over 30' away, similar to a football jig. I haven't looked at the Jackall Spade jig, the hook is more than likely appropriate for it's intended use, if not it will be pulled off the market. The price has dropped over 25% already, indicating it was over priced for general use. Tom Quote
Super User CWB Posted October 18, 2014 Super User Posted October 18, 2014 Don't quite get some of the logic here. The same people that say there is no advantage to a tungsten jig over a lead jig will swear they need tungsten worm and dropshot weights as they telegraph what is on the bottom much better. That being said, $10.00? No way here. Gotta be a risk, reward cutoff somewhere. Quote
