ROCbass Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I'm a Bills fan and don't really follow college football too much. Just curious what those of you who have followed his college career think of the guy who I'm hoping will be the first bona fide franchise quarterback we've had since Jim Kelly hung up the cleats. Super User Marty Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 What makes a guy from SC a Bills fan? Don't the Panthers provide you with enough misery? I didn't follow his career but a friend who's an FSU grad followed him and isn't very impressed. On the other hand, a good friend is a dyed-in-the-wool Bills fan who studies the game closely and he's high on Manuel. It seems pretty clear that the guy has a good work ethic and is of high character, so all we have to be concerned about is football skills. But it's too much of a stretch at this point to entertain the thought of him being a franchise QB. Quote

Before that I grew up and lived my whole life in Rochester. I'm in my mid 20's and some of my earliest childhood memories are Superbowl parties where my entire extended family was crowded in my grandpa's living room, cheering for the Bills. We all know how those games turned out, but those experiences turned me into a fan nonetheless. I couldn't care less about the Panthers, except that the Bills play them week two this year. I just wish it was an away game so I could go to it. Quote
JaxBasser Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I saw pretty much every game he played at FSU. He's a talented player who had the potential to be great but just never was able to make that next step. Not that he was bad at FSU, he just never became the player everyone expected him to be. Inconsistent at times, especially with his accuracy. I still think he could end up being a solid NFL QB though. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 No, no Florida State fans on this Forum. A lot of SEC fans but no Florida State fans. We like real college football, not ACC football that sucks on a good day, unless you have a big game against Dook or Funeral Wake Trees. As for the FSU quarterback going into the NFL, probably last a few weeks and then the Bills will have to search for a real quarterback from the SEC. (Don't you just love talking football smack? Super User South FLA Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 I am a FSU football fan that has followed them closely since about 1988! Although EJ is a great young man, and very talented, he has displayed plenty of lapses in judgement especially when playing in big games like Oklahoma in 2011 I believe, and the Gators in 2012. In my opinion he is significantly below Christian Ponder as a QB, but I wish him the best and hope that he proves me wrong and is a beacon for the FSU program! Nevertheless, is he is better than any of the garbage QBs that should be TE the SEC has been dishing out lately, LOL! Quote
Super User South FLA Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 18 of 27 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns, nice! Too bad the Bills lost! Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 FSU plays in a weak football conference which will hurt their chances of playing for the last BCS title. FSU is in the rear view mirror of college football. Even if they beat Clepson and Miami this year it is still not going to be enough to get them to the promised land unless they are a perfect 12-0. Even a weak Nimrods team can beat them. A win in Charlotte may get them into the Orange Bowl but that is a long shot. The Noles had their chance to join the powerful SEC but Bobby decided to go the easy route and beat up on the weak sisters in the ACC for easy victories. Seems the chickens have returned home to roost. Dumbo did good at LSU under Satan's guidance but I doubt he is going to be the one to get the Noles back on top by himself. Can't wait for the other FSU fans to come and join in on the thread. Now get on one of the two football threads and lets talk some smack!!!!!! College football rules! Quote

Ima Bass Ninja Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 ROC EJ will do a great job in buffalo. He was a great QB for fsu with great mobility so I expect he will do some good things and be exciting to watch in the NFL. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 9, 2013 Super User Posted September 9, 2013 Ima, that is what we are looking for. Fun talk and jabs at each other and their teams. Keep it going. Makes for some fun talk. It is all in fun so don' too upset. It is a diversion from real life. Quote
ROCbass Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 I was encouraged by what I saw today. He made some good decisions and his stats would have been even better if not for some mistakes by his teammates like fumbles, penalties, and dropped passed that killed some drives. IMO the coaches also severely mismanaged the running backs. CJ Spiller struggled all day and it seemed like Fred Jackson gained 5 yards every time he got the ball, but they kept trying to feature CJ. In short, the offense had its share of issues but EJ was a bright spot. Not bad for a rookie in his first start. Quote

Super User Sam Posted September 9, 2013 Super User Posted September 9, 2013 I can only find four SEC-ACC matchups so far. Am I missing any? Miami defeats Florida (yes!!!!) Clepson over Jawja Bamasux over the Honkies ***** nailed the Heels 2-2 so far and the games were good ones. Don't know of any more ACC-SEC until Clepson takes on the ***** at the end of the season but then I don't study the schedules. Let me know of any more coming up. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 lolololololol.....I will refrain from even a modest attempt at smack as being probably the only N.C. State fan on the forums and the mediocrity of the football program since forever, silence Is golden. That being said, while many have their opinions about the SEC the one teams fans that bother me the most, Is that of the UT Vols. Insufferable Is being polite. 1 Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 It's been an interesting few days in college football despite no games played since Sat... Seems our Bama, Miss St (if anyone will fess up ), Tenn, OK State and LSU friends might have some reason to worry if there's anything to these reports coming out. I'd sure hate to see Bama forfeit a championship for using an ineligible player! But we all know how this will end, and Johnny Football's suspension gives USA glimpse into the future. Each school will "look into the allegations" and find nothing. The NCAA will "investigate" and find nothing. Meanwhile, the Ga Techs of the world will continue to get punished for such egregious violations, such as a player NOT taking a gift from an agent. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 LSU is totally in the clear. As for its brother schools, watch out. MissySippy State is after Ole P&%#; Tennessee is always looking to nail Bamasux; and everyone hates Florida. Isn't it great or what? Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 Les Miles was the HC at OK St when the alleged incidents occurred. And they sound rather serious. Sure would be horrible for the Mad Hatter to meet the pied piper! Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 Open letter from Alabama's DJ Fluker about the money scandal. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 Chris, Les did nothing wrong. Just like Chickensh$t at Awbunn or Satan at Bamasux and the other coaches at Miami, UNC, SMU, Southern Cal, etc. Check out the all time list: http://www.footballgeography.com/college-football-fbs-and-ncaa-probation/ Miles will come out of this shining like a gold coin! Super User Chris at Tech Posted September 12, 2013 Super User Posted September 12, 2013 SMU got the death penalty. USC got hammered. Don't get me started on UNC -- that's exhbit 1A on why the NCAA is such a joke. As much as it pains me to say it, I think Miami deserves to get off with no further penalties for the absolute bungling of that case by the NCAA. Define "nothing wrong". if the allegations are true about what happened at Ok St, are you saying poor Les had no idea, and was just victim of rogue boosters, academic advisors, drug dealers and coeds who were especially passionate fans of the program? Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 13, 2013 Super User Posted September 13, 2013 I think Les Miles had no idea what was going on. If so, he would have stopped it. I really don't believe everything said about the situation. It does not make sense. If you give me enough time I could go to Toolame and find things that were illegal in the past. Supposedly Sports Illustrated has the proof. Let's see it and then decide if anything really happened. If Satan bolts for Texassss then you know something is wrong. Quote
ROCbass Posted September 17, 2013 Author Posted September 17, 2013 EJ led a nice TD drive with less than 2 minutes left and no timeouts for the win. I like this guy so far. Quote

State fan I have followed the unc stuff carefully and the clear path the ncaa has taken with regards to unc is pathetic. They are as corrupt and as guilty as anything SMU did and unc gets a wrist slap. The corruption goes from the head of the ACC(unc alum) to the board of governors , to the complete and total lack of ethics from the unc administration. This whole thing sickens me. Quote
