Super User rockchalk06 Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 The last couple of years have been bad for weeds. I wasn't able to keep up with regular lawn maintenance, along with all the weeds. So we hired (company X) to control the weeds. Long story short, they did a hellova job on the weeds. The lawn looks immaculate. Other than the cost, I have been tickled pink! Fast forward to this afternoon. They called my fiancé's work as I work nights and sleep during the day. Here is how the phone call went. Company X"Hello ma'am, we would like to recommend aerating your lawn" My fiancé "I'm really not sure, I'd like to speak with my fiancé and see what he says" Company X "that's just stupid, if you want a beautiful lawn women, you'll listen to me and take this service" Click, she hangs the phone up and calls the IT department and gets a recording of the call. Emails to me and wakes me up. I listen and am so fuming mad, I can't go back to sleep. 20 minutes later, the cat from Company X calls me. I start off calm and a hello. He proceeds to tell me my fiancé needs to just listen to men and let us take care of the "important" things. Now before I go any further, last was a miserable 12 hour shift. 95 degrees all night, and full of stupid people. I got woke up early and with all that said, I was a little "miffed" Needless to say, we are no longer with Company X. With the threats I made involving social media and the BBB, the last 2 services were credited back to my account. Are people really that sexist now adays? Nothing gets my BP going worse than one person bullying or discriminating against another. Quote

Super User flyfisher Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Hmmmm....sounds made up to me. and why not name the company if it is true otherwise why post? I mean if i had a bad experience with a company i am going to name the company so other's don't have the same experience. Sounds like they did a good job with your lawn at least. Quote

I've seen People bash companies on here before and the posts get taken down. I felt no need to name the company. My friends and family will know. I got the entire call on tape man. My reason for posting was it kinda shocked me people are still that way with large companies. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 I would not name the company, a negative experience with 1 employee may not be indicative of the company as a whole. Negative experiences are commonplace with everyone in every aspect of life, this one hardly sounds like anything major. No one is physically injured, nothing broken, no money lost, all that happened was a hard sell approach. That's the way business is sometimes, can't take it personal. 1 Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 lol guy must be single..doesn't he know women are always right and who the hell aerates their yard.... The guy that called on the phone was absolutley right about lawn aeration, his tact was bad. My lawn back in Michigan was always aerated and so were the golf courses, spring and fall. The grass in Florida is beyond help, it's akin to crab grass up north, we do not have Kentucky blue or any plusher grasses. Quote
derekxec Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 ah thats true for some reason i was thinking everyone is from florida hahaha Quote
Super User Teal Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Sorry for the bad experience. Sounds like a very pushy sale. Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted September 11, 2013 Super User Posted September 11, 2013 I would just like to take this opportunity to plug ww2farmers yard service for die-hard bass fisherman...........I have some stuff here on the farm that you can use, and you won't have to worry about grass, weeds, flowers, tress, bushes, or anything that is green. For, I don't know, at least 6-8 months.............or forever, depending on how much you use. I got stuff for bugs too..........oh and fungicides for cereal grains...........but that would just be ridiculous to put on a yard. Quote
