Mike2841 Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I recieved my veracity (6'6" MH) and revo rocket in the mail earlier this week. I've only had a chance to take it out a couple of times but so far I am thoroughly impressed. The first thing I noticed about it is how lightweight the combo feels, and to make it even better it balances extremely well. I have thrown a variety of lures on it and it handles them very well from 3/8-1oz. It casts very smoothly and I haven't had any bad backlashes with those weights. Anything lighter than that I wasn't able to cast without back lashing, I'm not sure if its the reel or my own ineptitude. The only lure I used that I felt the retrieve was too fast for was a 1/2 oz spinner bait with double Colorado blades. I own the vendetta, veritas, villain and now the veracity and in my opinion the veracity is the best of the bunch. If you are looking for a new topwater setup I would give this a serious look. I will add to this if there are any questions about the rod or reel as I give it more time on the water. Quote
21farms Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 can you tell me where you got them from? i've been frustrated as i have not found them listed anywhere for sale and they're not even on the abu website. Quote
Mike2841 Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 I got them from promotive.com. Another member told me that abu gives great deals to military through that site. Also I think the reel is on the bass pro site and the rod has been on the dicks site for a while Quote
thehooligan Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 My local tackle shop had the rocket. Pretty sweet reel. Im not an abu fan but really liked it. Quote
pbizzle Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I like how on BP it says Revo Rocket Hyper-Speed Baitcasting Reel. It's sounds like a GI Joe with karate chop action. 2 Quote
RyneB Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I will be purchasing a Rocket this winter. Hopefully I can get a deal during black Friday sales. Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I haven't looked into this at all as yet, so please tell me why we need a 9.0:1 reel, and what lures/situations would benefit from the super high speed. Quote

It's sounds like a GI Joe with karate chop action. if it did, i'd buy it for sure! as it is, however, from the features list, it looks to be an STX with a bigger gear set, a longer handle and burgundy paint for $100 more. the BPS description is a little confusing...it touts "all aluminum construction" but further down it reads that the side plate is C6 carbon [scratching head] Quote

It would be sweet for flipping and pitching were you want as many cast as fast as possible but AWESOME for buzzbaits. Quote
Mike2841 Posted September 10, 2013 Author Posted September 10, 2013 I don't need a 9:1 ratio, it was more of an impulse buy. It is great for buzzbaits, and I use it mostly for topwater The thing that impresses me most about the reel is how smooth it is while casting. I can cast further with less effort than I can with my lews tournament mg. Quote
Hattrick7 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Any significant difference in performance compared to the Veritas? Looking at getting the veracity crankbait rod. I have a Veritas 7' mh and it's been a great rod so far. Quote
Mike2841 Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 I've never used any of the crank bait rods, but the biggest difference to me between the two is that the veracity is lighter and better balanced Quote

C'Mon..... this is BassResource....... NEED has nothing to do with it! a 9.0:1 satisfies a WANT..... 1 Quote
bass1980 Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Pitching jigs would benefit from a fast ratio reel. Many times I'm just pitching into pockets between vegetation, jig once or twice, reel back and pitch again. I can cover ground faster because many times they bite on the fall anyways so no point of working the jig too long. Quote

Way north bass guy Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I just ordered one off BPS, they’re on sale right now for the cyberweek sale. Should be a beauty for quick pitching to lots of targets and for frogging to get that lure back quick for another cast. Quote
