MoeC Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 A buddy brought me with him yesterday to a private farm pond in central NJ. I felt like I was on a bass show. The bass were in the lily pad and, when there was cloud cover, they were hitting like crazy. As soon as the sun came out the fish turned-off. About 45 minutes later, more clouds and more fish. We didn't keep count, but we figure at least 30 fish in 3 hours. At one point we landed our Zoom Salty Super Flukes in a secluded opening, about 6 feet from each other and we both hooked-up... just like TV. Most were small at about 1.5-2 pounders, but he landed two of about 3.5 pounds. All season I have fished from the banks. An afternoon in his canoe has me on Craiglist and the WWW looking for a canoe of my own. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 It's awesome to hit the feeding frenzy like this with bass. I seem to catch it from shore before the rain front hits and during the light rain or like you between the cloud cover inbetween the rain showers too. I've even seen the bass turn on after a short heavy rain as it lets up. I wish I had a meter to tell me when this frenzy is going to happen. My older brother always told me before he passed on to stay going and sooner or later they will turn on. He was right. BigBill Quote
Super User rockchalk06 Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Gotta love that crazy bite! A couple of years ago I had the same with the top water bite on a lake. It was so crazy, they'd hit just about anything as long as it was shallow. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 7, 2013 Super User Posted September 7, 2013 Yep, pond fishing can be great. When I fish my double secret pond I try to focus on one specific bait or presentation. I caught over sixty one day on my double secret pond. All sizes from dinks to 6 pounders. Hope you can return to the pond and have some fun and learn new tricks of the trade. If you get that canoe please remember to wear your PFD, even in a pond. Rutgers is going to need every fanny ithe stands when they begin Big-10 play!!! 1 Quote
