If you take away the wins acquired by cheating at least the Eagles won at some point.... And actually it was 1960 not 58...i am sure you remember the game Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 as long as it isn't the cheatriots i am cool with whoever makes it Dude , seriously ??? Do you not think that every single team has not cheated in some form or other ?? Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 Dude , seriously ??? Do you not think that every single team has not cheated in some form or other ?? most reasonable people understand that but overwhelming success breeds jealousy and hatred. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 Dude , seriously ??? Do you not think that every single team has not cheated in some form or other ?? While at this point it is a joke to me but there remains the fact that during the patriots championship run they were confirmed cheaters to the point of major fines and losing of a draft pick. Do i think other teams cheat, of course but that still doesn't make it right and if other teams were confirmed and had penalties given i would feel the same way about them. I really don't hate the patriots but rather Belichick as he was the mastermind behind it all. Combine that with the media overload on how good they are and the patriot way and how players always play better there it is enough to sour me on them....of course the Eagles losing to them in the Super Bowl in the height of spy gate doesn't help either lol If the Eagles cheated at the level of the patriots and won a Super Bowl it would be soured and not valid to me as a fan, while i would still be an Eagles fan, I would not be able to root for them until the coaching staff responsible was run out of town. it's all in good fun and while i am passionate about a lot of things, including sports, it isn't the end of the world when my team wins or loses but it does provide for some scintillating conversation 1 Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 Dude , seriously ??? Do you not think that every single team has not cheated in some form or other ?? Nitro the problem is when we accept cheating as "part of the game" we diminish the game, the players, and the fans. I don't know if the Pats are guilty of anything that others haven't also done, and I don't really have a dog in this fight. I do believe that integrity and honor are more important than winning, even at-or maybe especially at, the pro level. I watched the 60 Minutes episode earlier this evening interviewing many of the players in the A Rod mess. The idea that everyone is doing it, so I have to was used as justification for using whatever it takes to compete. That attitude dishonors every pro who ever played the game without cheating. I will get off my soap-box now... We now return to our regular programming... 2 Quote

And yes, congrats to all those teams and their fans who won this weekend and next weekend is shaping up to a be fun day of football!! Here's hoping for a Denver San Fran Super Bowl Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 13, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 13, 2014 Wow, before this thread goes too far off in a tangent, can we table the talk about cheating please? Thanks! Go Hawks!! 2 Quote

I like the conversations we have , I truly do , but , at the same time , a scintillating conversation comes from people who are willing to discuss issues with you , to provoke a conversation in such a manner as you are will most likely end with very little scintillation at all . BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 13, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 13, 2014 Ummm....so this is being "reported" by a 49'rs fan blog? Methinks there's a few key elements left out of that fairy tale. Quote

No California credit cards being accepted. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/seattle-seahawks-trying-prevent-49ers-fans-purchasing-nfc-233217173--nfl.html I am surprised there any tickets left....most places sell out within minutes and then everyone is going to the seocndary market. I know the Nationals did it either last year or the year before last to prevent the Phillies fans from travelling to the game and outnumbering the home team....like normal Quote

Super User Oregon Native Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 It's going to be interesting to see who's going to get to talk the talk and those who walk. Hoping for a good game myself. They've all earned where they are. Go Hawks Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 I just checked the seahawks website and right under where it says tickets will be available today at 10am it lists the states where it will accept payments from... http://www.seahawks.com/news/articles/article-1/NFC-Championship-tickets-available-on-Monday/332cc512-bbc5-411a-af9b-8d96ffb0f240 I think this game will be really good though...two stellar matchups on the board for sure. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted January 13, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted January 13, 2014 So it turns out the NFL is mandating this, as Denver is doing it too (selling to just a few states, excluding opponent's state). It's in response to the scalper websites that buy thousands of tickets and then sell them on the black market. Ironically, it was the 9'rs - Panthers game that prodded the NFL to do something about it, because the ticket prices for that game soared on the black market, and fans complained. Leave it up to the Whiner fans to spin it another way. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 13, 2014 Super User Posted January 13, 2014 I wonder how the scalper fans even get tickets in bulk anymore...they make it a PITA to even get tickets. it does kind of suck that a fan who is looking to make a road trip is basically forced to go secondary market Quote
