unknownbbq2 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Hey guys got a short preference question for you. I have been having alot of luck with the zoom toad mostly in white color on a few different lakes. Then i got all wrapped up in the rage tail hype and had to have them. The zoom toads have not completely destroyed the rage tails but have outfished them by a few fish on any day i fish both baits. What do u guys prefer and why. Thanks and keep a tight line Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 The Zoom, it weighs more and I can cast it farther. Quote

Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 13, 2010 Super User Posted August 13, 2010 Depends on the situation. The Zoom toads make less noise and push less water. The Rage toads make more noise, and throw more water. Quote
brushhoggin Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ^^^ copy that. i think you should have both. throw zoom for those not so windy days, and a rage over water with a slight chop Quote
CRANKSTER Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Both are good, I'm a fan of the Stanley Ribbit frogs too. Quote
Steven Ladner Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Depends on the situation. The Zoom toads make less noise and push less water. The Rage toads make more noise, and throw more water. That's dead on Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 14, 2010 Super User Posted August 14, 2010 If you want to throw another bait into the mix; the Rage Shad throws a ridiculous amount of water and makes a ton of noise..... Quote
matstone7 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Depends on the situation. The Zoom toads make less noise and push less water. The Rage toads make more noise, and throw more water. That's dead on The above concerning the Rage Toad is really dependent on the speed the toad is fished. Yes, it can make more noise and can throw much more water and vibration if you fish fast. If you slow the RT down a little looking for the right sound, you will notice at a certain speed it sounds just like running water which is like fishing a sweet spot on a lake. It's at this speed the Rage Toad is most productive imo, and precisely what all the hype is about. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted August 14, 2010 Super User Posted August 14, 2010 Rage Toad all the way. If I want to make LESS noise, I'll throw a Rage Lobster or Craw, and run in on top. If I need even MORE noise, I'll toss the Shad. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Ragetail toad would be my choice, but when less noise is in order I use the eeliminator on the surface. Quote
Big-O Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Ragetail toad would be my choice, but when less noise is in order I use the eeliminator on the surface. Me too Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted August 14, 2010 Super User Posted August 14, 2010 i use these and i catch more fish than on the rage toad ;) btw, they are the Canyon Plastics 4.5" frog ..... Quote
MMan16 Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I carry 3 types rage toad, zoom, and stanley ribbit. There all good baits and will all catch equal fish on one day or the next. Some just have there day were the fish may like one better than the other. Quote
Super User CWB Posted August 14, 2010 Super User Posted August 14, 2010 Ragetail toad would be my choice, but when less noise is in order I use the eeliminator on the surface. Me too Big O www.ragetail.com Big-O isn't biased by the way. ;D Love the Rage Toad but have to agree with SoFla on the Rage Shad. By far my favorite bait to fish. I know a guy from Wisconsin that would rather throw a one legged Horny Toad but that's another story. Quote
brushhoggin Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 the Stanley ribbit doesn't get enough credit. to me they all have different action. matstone, btw nice post. i know that slow roll sweet spot you speak of Quote
unknownbbq2 Posted August 14, 2010 Author Posted August 14, 2010 alright guys i appreciate all the replys and btw i also love the rage shads. Thanks keep a tight line. Quote
Primus Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 I prefer the Zoom Horney Toad & Stanley Ribbit. I've also done well on a Tike Snake when a more subtle presentation is called for. Quote
Mrs. Matstone Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Ragetail toad would be my choice, but when less noise is in order I use the eeliminator on the surface. That is the way I look at it too but I also love to throw the shad in there as well. Quote

If I need even MORE noise, I'll toss the Shad. Thats dead on!! Rage tail Lobsters and craws work like crazy on top!!! the toad does its job great and when you need a tornado on top throw the shad! I have caught tons of fish on them all on top.. Quote
