Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 5, 2013 Global Moderator Posted September 5, 2013 Jon and I were pretty torn about where to go today. It was either going to be Wabaunsee or Melvern, we settled on Melvern and it was a good decision. We caught easily over 100 fish today, all 3 bass, walleye, crappie, white bass, and catfish, no drum! Caught fish on lots of baits, Ned, tube, zara puppy, keitechs, drop shot, spoons, squarebills, and swimbaits. My first one of the morning hit a KVD 1.0 and went 18 1/4" We caught lots of smallmouth and a couple other fish with the smallmouth being a pretty good mix of small and bigger fish. Fished around a couple different places then tried the dam. I started lobbing a 5" Bull Shad around and got hit pretty fast by this stocky 18 incher. I also caught the tough guy of the day on a KVD 1.0 As we were fishing down the dam a couple big smallies started chasing shad literally onto the bank. I fired my Bull Shad at them and hooked up immediately. I thought she was going to be heavier but I'm not at all disappointed by a 20" 4 pound smallmouth 2 Quote

Super User AK-Jax86 Posted September 6, 2013 Super User Posted September 6, 2013 Nice smallies! Whenever I see pics of smallies I think of that article a member posted about a golf course pond that has been overran by fishermen because smallies somehow got in there. Every time I go to my golf courses I pray for that to happen to me lol, never caught one before. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Nicely done. Especially that 3rd picture. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted September 6, 2013 Nicely done. Especially that 3rd picture. Anyone can feel a 4 pounder smash a swimbait, it takes skill to feel a 3 incher hit a crank Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted September 8, 2013 Super User Posted September 8, 2013 Nice job man. Great day out there! Quote
