Jarts are back on the market again. We used to line up clay pigeons on the lawn and throw the Jarts at them

i totally agree with the original post, being a kid back in the day had to be way better than being a kid now. we had more freedoms it seemed like. we did more things that were fine back then but would get scoffed at now.

what happened is something i like to call the P****fication of America...

Know what else I miss thats diffrent from when most of us grew up as opposed to kids now. Fair games used to have the cross bows and the full auto tommy gun BB guns you had to shoot the star out with.

Thank god

Speaking of the new nerf guns i was playing with my boys this morning and their nerf guns and they have way to many different style darts. Yes some of the new ones fly like a bat outa hell on steroids but they only work with certain guns and not with others and its a major head ache. I think I spent more time u jamming guns because my 2 year old out whistler darts in the wrong gun and jammed it all up.

Took the kids to the lake yesterday not to fish just to go for something to do. They went down in the "beach" area and were fighting the wave monster Noah was throwing rocks at each wave that came in and jack had a stick he smacked the water every time a wave crashed on shore. This went on for about an hour and they kicked and screamed when I told them it was time to go.

When my son's were at my camp in vt they had a BB gun to shoot. When I grew up I had twin cap pistols with the twin holsters. My older brothers had those BB gun battles in the woods too. I also had the Dinky Toy trucks and cars plus the smaller matchbox cars and trucks. I never seen the Dinky Toys till the net and eBay. If you go there and look at the dinky toys these are what I grew up with in the mid/late 50's. I just purchased many of these for my 3yo grandson so he can play and grow up with them too.

I still have all my old tonka trucks that my grandpa and father gave me there all metal ones but looking rough threw the NY winters. My boys play with them on occasion.

Remember the Evel Kenival stunt cycle? It was a heavy duty plastic, metal and rubber bike. You had to put it on a wind up launcher and it would run like 500mph across the house into the dog and his hair would get tangled in it and mom would have to cut it out of the dog while he just sat there with a stupid look on his face and dad would yell and beat us with the Hot Wheels track and we would repeat this day after day after day. Poor dog

Sadly, the comments below that story appeared to have been real.  That, is scary.

I am out of the loop as for what's out there for boys, as I have two daughters. We have a house full of barbies, cabbage patch dolls, and other assorted stuff and it don't seem all that different than the ones my sister had 30 years ago. We do have hungry hungry hippos, and that is exactly as I remember it from my childhood, and I am still undefeated in 37 years of playing it. Nothing says family fun like the tears of a 4 and 8 year old when the old man has just whooped them in a rousing bout of connect four, or operation.......which is a little different BTW, as it now features sponge bob, instead of the fat man with the red light bulb nose.

Those things were awesome. They also came with a ramp that if you could actually line it up and hit the ramp it would go flying across the room and crash land. Poor Evel would go flipping over the handle bars
