Nice we gotta wait till October 1 here. I haven't seen my trail cam pics yet as I'm out of town till the week before season. My buddy has been checking for me he said there are a bunch of does a spike and a small basket rack 8 on it bout a 80 class buck so small guy. We got pics of a 140" 10 pt with 1 drop tine that made it last season. We're pretty sure he survived te winter as well so just gotta get him on camera now there's 6 out on the farm we hunt getting pics for us. I can't wait to get out.

That's what makes me nervous. My stand is 10 yards from my plot, as I dont have a bunch of land to begin with. Ill be sitting 16' up the tree, but the oak Im on is completely bare. Very minimal cover. Imma be covered head to toe in my camo, but Im still worried Imma get busted. If they see me, and get spooked how long before they typically come back?

Depends really I've zinged slugs past a buck 60 yards from me one season 4 shots an he walked away calm lol. I've blinked and had em run off never to be seen again. I dropped a doe maybe 10 years ago ran 10 yards and flopped in some bushes and expired and the others jut stood there I took it upon myself to remove these "stupid" deer from the herd lol.

So you might get busted and they come back in 5 minutes or in 5 years just never know depends how secure they feel I guess.

Find where they're bedded down during the day and hunt between their bed and their food source (close to the bed).  You're more likely to catch them moving around during the daylight hours than simply waiting for them to show up and eat.

Just keep yourself calm. Slow deliberate movements. Don't s natch or jerk back the bow. Just get in the zone. Remember to breathe. Just relax and focus on what your doing. Its not as hard as it sounds.

Edit: wow. S natch is blocked out by the filter. I'm kinda shocked.

Man you know how many times I have been pumped for nocturnal deer and never seen them.  I hope you get them, are they still in velvet, or is it the pic?

My final piece of unsolicited advice. Once you have picked your target point on Bambi. Look through your sight, not at it. Line it up and focus directly at your target point. Control your breathing and fire on the exhale.

At least that's how I was taught.

Good luck bud! Just remember one of the most important things in bow hunting ... breathing control, breathing control, breathing control! Trust me, when you have a 10pt. bruiser with a 19" spread standing right in front of ya, its VERY easy to let you breathing get outta whack:)  Just keep yourself calm and you shouldn't have any trouble at all.

Ain't NOTHIN better than the stick n' string.

Go get em' brother!!

Or as I was told "Aim small, miss small" plus it keeps buck fever from setting in.
