Brian Needham Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 This was actually what I was doing, when I got the opportunity to fish Richmond Mills. We stayed at Black's Camp, on Santee Cooper. Nice place, decent fishing...the high point though, without a doubt was my day trip to Richmond Mills. And yes, I agree - tournament fishing is something completely different. link to you fishing report thread? how many did you have in your group to fish? Cost? I know the cost for 4 man group, but wondering if you had less. feel free to PM, as not to highjack further. Quote
FrogFreak Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 I just got back from a work retreat in Ontario. It was three days of guided fishing, lodging and food. It ran about $1000 per person plus the gas to get there. Paying for a guide makes sense but just paying to fish.... I do that by purchasing a license. I don't like the idea but that's just me. Each to his/her own. When I catch my pb I want it to be in public waters. I wouldn't feel good taking a trophy deer on a game farm either. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 9, 2013 Super User Posted September 9, 2013 A fish doesn't know it's in private waters and subject to the same variables as a fish in public waters, but I do think you have a better chance based on less pressure if for no other reason. I'm going to spend x number of dollars fishing, it would't bother me in the least to spend it where I could have the memory of a lifetime, I'd look forward to it. I've had great memories at my local beach, backpacked into the Canadian wilderness, been on the flats with guides and offshore charters, none of it comes for free. A place like Kingfisher is just another place to drop some coin, it looks fantastic me. 1 Quote
Big Jon Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I'm available and up to the task I'll second that. Quote
Big Jon Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Honestly, I wouldn't pay to go fishing outside of regular fees and cost of tackle. Quote
tbone1993 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 That looks more like a game farm with fishing as a side note. There is a bass and gill club in Plainfield IL which is for fishing and bird hunting, but membership is limited to 300 people. The only way you can get a membership is if someone is selling theirs and they go between 3k-5k plus an annual fee of a couple hundred bucks. My uncle used to hold a membership and own land their if I am not mistaken. Ive always wanted to fish it but he hasnt gone out there in years. Quote

That's an equity membership where your "share" makes you a minority owner. Your share value can increase over time, most popular clubs have a waiting list as membership is limited to a certain number. Quote
