swimbait Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 I had this exact issue a year or two ago. The baits had never been out of my garage and never saw direct sunlight. I store hundreds if not over a thousand baits and never had an issue with any of them except for the SKs. That said, when I contacted Chris at SK he took good care of me and replaced all baits. If you like them I wouldn't hesitate to keep buying and throwing them if they go bad they will replace them. Great customer service. Quote
detroit1 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 If those eyes were yellow, i'd think that Rabble Rouser is back in business with a new bait line-up! Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Airborne angler, how many days did it take to get your replacements? I'm going on seven days now and still waiting for the new ones. : Quote

I JUST got done emailing Chris to ask if the replacements had been sent out yet. Ill keep everyone posted on how things go. Quote
JDK. Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Strike King customer service is actually really good. I had a problem with a Strike King Spinnerbait and sent them an e-mail. Chris Brown at Strike King responded the same day and took care of the situation. They sent me 3 new spinnerbaits and a hat. I would contact them and attach the pictures. They should take care of this issue. same thing here same guy responded but i have yet to receive anything it has been 2 weeks now Quote
BobP Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Why did it happen? Duh! Leave crankbaits in a box, in the boat, in the AZ sun in the middle of summer. I'd say the fault isn't 100% Strike King's. The bright side, now you don't have to boil those lipless baits to expand their rattle chambers, like some guys do. Quote
Blue Streak Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 You can't leave crankbaits in those boxes in the sun because this is exactly what happens. I would suppose the Strike King people have encountered this problem a thousand times, and yet they still seem to be good enough to make their "defective" baits right. Quote

I wish you new what you are talking about as far as this issue is concerned. I have had numerous Strike King Baits do this, still in the package having never been in the boat. They were sitting at home with all my other extra baits that have never had this problem, stored exactly the same. It is NOT a problem that happens with all their baits, just some. Strike King does stand behind and replaces all the baits this happens to so Kudos to them but this is a production or design flaw. To say otherwise is a little ignorant to the problem if it hasn't happened to you YET. Quote
airborne_angler Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 Ive got Norman,Manns,BPS XPS, and Bill Lewis crankbaits in that same box and none of those were affected at all.But the SK baits swell and distort.HMMMMM Quote

airborne_angler Posted July 29, 2010 Author Posted July 29, 2010 The Bill lewis,Manns,AND BPS XPS Imsure are plastic. The Normans,im not so sure of. Quote
Indiana Bass1 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes the normans are plastic also. I have hundreds of them and they are awesome, don't know why I bought a few strike kings???? For you Arizona sunshine folks, my baits swelled right in the box in the garage. And if they cant take the sunshine while in the boat I don't want them. Whats next, keep the Strike King baits on ice? LOL Might give them a tighter wiggle!! : On a serious note,my buddy uses my hand poured jig trailers and he claims the fish like em better if he keeps them in a cooler! Hard to argue with him when he won over $16,000 fishin' em' this way Go figure. Quote

airborne_angler Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Chris Brown from Strike King came through with flying colors!! I got a box from Fed Ex today and I got the replacement Red Eyes in Sexy Shad(3 each) and the Series 6 in Sexy Shad. He also threw in 2 more series 6 in Sexy Shad,A hat and a 2011 Catalog. Chris Brown made everything A-OK. Ive been following the Strike King Posts on Facebook, and it seems that Chris Brown has been out of town covering the latest tourney,as he is the one that was posting the updates from the event. Im a happy camper once again. I sent my distorted Rattle Spots to Pradco/Cotton Cordell as they requested...Lets see if they come through with the same kind of service!! Quote

airborne_angler Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 I sent the initial email to them on the 18th of July Quote
airborne_angler Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Im pretty impressed, just got a call from the guy over at Cotton Cordell. Says hes gonna honor the fact that I paid the money for the baits and they didnt hold up. Hes putting replacements in the mail as we speak.Gave me heads up on some sales over at thier website, and just had an overall nice conversation with a very pleasant individual. His name is Stephen Biggerstaff for those of you with issues with the Pradco/Lurenet line of baits. Quote
JDK. Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 i had one messed up he sent me two replacements and a strike king catalog.. said i was supposed to get a hat but it was on back order so who knows if i will get that.. i was just happy getting my lures replaced..Strike King is A Ok in my book.. lures came yesterday.. i also emailed around the same time you did Quote
brushhoggin Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 paul beat me to it, your in arizona man, keep your cranks in a cooler. i wouldnt want to replace them if i worked for strike king. it's not defective but they are if you cook them! Quote
airborne_angler Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 So today the doorbell rings and its the Fed Ex guy AGAIN!!! Dropped off the same style box as earlier in the week. I open it up and its like groundhog day. Got another shipment of the same baits that Strike King sent me earlier this week. Now I have 2 catalogs, but this time they didnt include a hat... No No No im not complaining, just really surprised. My wife could help but shake her head and exclaim "MORE!!!???" So now what,do I contact Chris Brown and tell him he sent me a duplicate package? What would you all do? Oh and scratch what I mentioned earlier about Cotton Cordell. The guy had me all pumped cause they were gonna replace my cranks(Take care of me) He called back and said he spoke to a supervisor and the replacement is a no-go. Its not a flaw in their product, and that I should keep my cranks in a cooler. Never heard of such a thing, who keeps their cranks in a cooler?? So I paid for the Cordell cranks, never used em,they got screwed up by the sun,the company requests I return them (on my dime) and then they get me all satisfied with their replacement policy.THEN they shoot it down and tell me their not gonna replace em. In my mind thats not good business ethic. If you tell someone your gonna do it,you should follow through, not renege on your word. I know he has a supervisor to answer to,but he really should have passed th issue in front of his supervisor prior to making what I thought was the final call on replacement of these baits. What an emotional roller coaster. Based on the way certain lures respond when left in the sun,I do know which ones will hold up and which ones wont. No more Cotton Cordell for me. Im in Arizona and Sun is just not something you can get away from here. I have a Jon Boat and the boat doesnt have storage compartments I can use to shade the baits from the sun. Heres the scenario played out with Cotton Cordell: I buy the 5 Cotton Cordell baits for lets say $2.50 each = $12.50 I never use them and they warp in the sun. I send an email to the company mentioning the issue I am having, they ask me to send the baits back to them on my dime= $5.30 Cotton Cordell calls me says they will replace the baits "no problem". Figure all is well I get another call saying after further discussion with a supervisor, the baits wont be replaced, but offers to send the baits back to me,because the hooks might be of value to me. I agree to have the baits returned. Cotton Cordell calls back a few seconds later and asks if I would be interested in a decal. So for all this I get a stinking decal?? So im out almost $20 and all I have to show for it is gonna be a decal?? Strike King has made up where Cotton Cordell failed!! Quote
triglet Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 of course you send them back. If they were nice enough to replace a product even though it wasnt their fault. maybe im reading it wrong but please tell me u arent considering cheating them out of a box of crankbaits??? my conscience wouldnt allow me to do it!!.... so i would send them back... only way i would keep them would be if i talked to them and they said for me to keep them!! then i would be like ;D Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 6, 2010 Super User Posted August 6, 2010 So now what,do I contact Chris Brown and tell him he sent me a duplicate package? What would you all do? You're the one looking in the mirror. Do you really want to know what we think? Obviously by you stating that "strike king made up for" the other company, you are already likely to keep them for your misguided perception of being wronged by Cotton Cordell. Keeping them is wrong. As far as I'm concerned, they all seem to be your fault. I guess that's what you get when you ask what people think... Quote
airborne_angler Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Ya know your right. I called the number on the invoice for Strike King to see if I could speak to Chris Brown Personally. The operator said he wasnt in and suggested I try back next week. So I emailed him and let him know that I received a duplicate package in the mail. I also posed the question of what he would like me to do with it. If he is generous and suggests keeping it,Ill have no trouble with that, but should he say he needs to have the items back to keep his records/inventory straight then by all means ill do the the stand up thing and send them back. Chris Brown did a stand up thing by making things right, who am I not to do the same thing for him? Quote
