As long as there is no thunder, lightning, hail, monsoon, etc. I will fish. There are some locals here that put away their gear in about September and leave it tucked away until the next spring about May. I would go nuts! I caught some giants last winter on drop shots. Some of the people here hunt when they are not fishing on chilly weather. Others just leave the tackle alone to sit in the shed. How many of you all are the year round folk like me?

Never done it before but I plan on fishing as much as possible this winter. I agree, something about it just sounds fun. The possibility of catching a lunker, being one of few (if any) boats on the lake etc. I am really looking forward to trying it.

I recently started seriously fishing, and plan on it this winter. Looking forward to less weeds, less shore brush, and less crowds.

We go when ever opportunity allows Joe , in the winter we head to, The Mar de Cortez by Rocky Point, and fill the ice chests :) Nothing better than fishing at night for those Catfish or Che-Willies!

I remember one winter we were bundled up fishing on the Yellowstone River in Montana, for trout. We had 2 pairs of long underwear on under our pants . Anyway my cousin was warming up by the fire and I smelt something burning and look over and his pant-leg is smoldering ! I tossed a couple of hands full of snow on it and patted it out!

On a closer look at his pants the fire had burnt through his pants, wool socks and was just browning the 1st layer of long underwear ! I think it was about 30 below that afternoon :) We caught a few trout which made it worth the trip !

Sometimes not even bad weather slows us down :)

Mitch, I started fishin seriously 2 years ago Christmas Day. Talk about frustration. Lol

I practiced 7 days a week. Learning knots, casts, species, etc. read countless books, mags, and watched every show and video I could find.

Here it is present day, I still do all of the above. Except I have something I didn't before,,,,, experience.

Keep it up year round and it gets better every day!

I fish between hunting. One year I fished till November just before thanksgiving while it was snowing a month before the ice is on. I was using a yum money maker swimbait. I lost another big bass. It bent my rod in half like I never seen it before. Then it spit it. I was sitting home itchen to go fishing so I went out in the snow. It was still too warm for the snow to stick. But this trip told me to fish till the ice is on.

I bear hunt in October so fishing is still possible after I hunt bear and before and after deer season.

In the past, I've taken a break in the really cold winter months, but I think this year I'll get out, though it might not be as often. The challenge interests me more then anything else

I fish pretty much year round. From the time the lake thaws till if freezes in the boat. Then I walk on it. My only down time is the couple weeks waiting for safe ice, and a couple of weeks waiting for the last of the ice to melt. I have often contemplated spending the down time  while I am waiting for the ice to form and/or melt by taking up salmon/steelhead fishing in the tribs. of the big lake...........but I think if I took up one more kind of fishing I would be divorced.

Year around for the most part here in VA. Sometimes I'll take some breaks, though, but I'll pretty much hit water 12 mo out of the year.

My 2 biggest bass this year were caught in February and the first week of March. My first trip of the year it was a blazing 11 degrees at the ramp when we dropped in and got up to a balmy 27 with a 15mph wind that could cut glass, and we whacked them good all day. I do a lot of deer hunting and duck hunting up until January, then I switch back over to bass fishing :)
