hi i recently tried to break down my rod for easy travel, but when i previously put two pieces together i went overboard with pressure and now the pieces wont break down. any suggestions on how to break down? my main concern is that i snapped the bottom eye off the rod and would like to repair it, ive heard i need some special type of tape to put a new one on.

please excuse any incorrect part labeling i know what i call the top eye is considered rod tip, im talking about the same piece but the one at bottom of the rod.

any feedback is welcome!

Have it repaired professionally. Around me one guide runs about 10 bucks. Well worth it. I have repaired some myself but I seem to be hot or miss with guides. Some come out great others like crap. Pay a pro and be done. Just my 2cents

Stand with you feet about shoulder width apart and knees bent. Place the rod horizontally behind your knees with the separation point in the middle with each hand knuckles up resting against the sides of your knees. Hold the rod firmly and apply outward pressure against your hands with your knees. Usually works even on the most stubborn of rods. Once you get it apart make sure there is no sand or etc on the rod or in the open end. Good luck

I second the motion for a professional repair. As ststed $10 should cover it. It's actually thread that binds the guide in place and epoxy finish that seals and protects the thread in 99% of cases.
