basshole8190 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Rock, I have never enjoyed a football game more other than when LSU beats Bamasux. The game was great. Nickie Satan and Kirby Stuipd look confused on the sidelines. The Bamasux fans were in a state of shock which was worth the price of admission just to see their faces. I wonder if that little creep who was crying at the end of the Iron Bowl stayed up to see the game and cried all over again. I hope so. Yes, big SEC fan here but you just got to enjoy seeing Bamasux go down. Life is good. Happy New Year. Hope Kansas can make it back to the NCAA basketball tournament this year. wow sam that's a lot of animosity towards a foot ball team of kids who put their body on the line on saturdays for an education. i guess you didn't enjoy watching mettenburger crawling on his hands an knees off the field after 3 consecutive sacks at the end of that bamasux victory over lswho this year Roll dang tide Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 They are playing the NC game at 730 central time. That makes so much sense. Lets play the game at a time when both the fan bases will have to stay up until midnight or one AM to see how the game ends. Stupid NCAA. Looks like I get to watch the first quarter, go to bed, and read about it Wednesday morning. Gotta be awake at 4 AM for work. Thanks NCAA for ******* this up for me. Quote

Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 Now you know the pain that us bama fans dealt with the last couple years... I watched those games. I was pulling for Notre Dame and LSU. As well as watched Auburns last NC game. It freaking stinks. I feel for us residents in the Greatest State in the Union. It is quite rotten to have to deal with this year after year. Our state building a football dynasty. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 So, close game or a rout? I'm thinking if Auburn can keep it close they have a good chance at winning the game. However, if FSU opens it up with some quick scores the Tigers could get blown out. What do you guys think? Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted January 6, 2014 Super User Posted January 6, 2014 I think Auburn wins it. Then again im also biased. War d**n Eagle! Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 7, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 7, 2014 That was a great game.  Did you hear the big "boom" at the end of the game when the lucky horseshoe fell out of Malzone's fanny? It was all over but the shouting.  As an SEC fan I congratulate the ACC and FSU for a super win.  What is interesting is that all SEC teams have at least two losses this year.  Now to get ready for next year and the playoffs.  Do you think the fans will be upset with the four SEC teams selected for the first playoff games???? 2 Quote

Super User Catt Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 Auburn & Alabama let the SEC down! No seriously I didn't watch the game but FSU was one of my favorite teams. I heard Satan refused the Texas job because he would have to play Oklahoma every year!!! SEC still #1 1 Quote

But not next season so maybe in the next SEC Championship game and then in two years when the schedules change. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 9, 2014 Super User Posted January 9, 2014 Well Sam, we have a lot of teams in the SEC that "expect to win" every game. I would like Missouri to embrace that philosophy down the road. One season doesn't establish a pattern, but it's a start! 1 Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 14, 2014 Author Super User Posted January 14, 2014 South Florida, if Bobby Bowdin was not afraid of joining the SEC and took the easy road in the ACC your BCS Championship would really mean more. Â Other than for FSU and Clepson, the ACC is a joke in college football, other than for Wake Forest vs. Duke, the big game of the century. Quote
sbfishySC Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Didn't Duke do really well this year? And I mean come on, you've got Tennesee, Vandy, Kentucky...etc. There's just as many weaker teams in the SEC as there is in the ACC. That's why I just don't get this whole SEC fetish. Quote

Tennessee, Vandy and Arkansas have been struggling in recent years, but have had their moments. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted January 15, 2014 Super User Posted January 15, 2014 Really? The SEC finished the season with three in the Top 5; 4 of the Top 10 and 7 in the Top 25. Tennessee, Vandy and Arkansas have been struggling in recent years, but have had their moments. The SEC must not be too difficult. Mizzou only played for a Big 12 title twice and both times they had it handed to them by OU. They then play for the SEC title in just their second season. Granted the top 3-4 teams are good year in and year out, but the rest of the league pretty much sucks. Quote
sbfishySC Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Let's look at it this way...and when I say championship here, I'm talking any championship, conference or national.  ACC teams that will never compete for a championship anytime soon: BC, UNC, NC State, Pitt, Syracuse, UVA, Wake.  ACC teams on the bubble that may or may not be in contention for a championship: Louisville (don't count in the past, but count for the future), Duke, GT, Miami, VT, Clemson, FSU  SEC teams that will never compete for a championship anytime soon: Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss State, Tennessee, Vandy, Arkansas  SEC teams on the bubble that may or may not be in contention for a championship: Florida, UGA, LSU, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Auburn, Alabama.  I think that's a pretty reasonable assessment of those teams. If you disagree, I'd like to hear your thoughts. But given my assessment, the SEC basically has one additional team that may have a chance to compete for a championship than the ACC. And again, by championship I'm talking conference or national. So realistically, the conferences on paper are fairly even. Now, I know the SEC vs ACC record on the field is slightly edged toward the SEC in recent years, but it's not big. I think this past year it was like 4-6 SEC. Not that big of a difference.  As far as the top 25 thing goes, sure, SEC has more. ACC (with the addition of Lousiville) has 4 in top 25. Again, yes, it's less than 7, but it's not a big enough difference to claim the SEC is far SUPERIOR than everyone else. They have a slight edge. They are not all Gods. Also, what are the polls really worth anyway? You almost have to take rankings with a grain of salt because they can be biased since they are based on votes by people who, believe it or not, are biased whether they claim to be or not.  I could go into Big 10/12/whatever conferences vs SEC, but I don't pay as much attention to them as I do the ACC. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 15, 2014 Super User Posted January 15, 2014 Well, I guess you can take this back to the beginning if you like, but for the last decade or so, it's pretty lopsided if we just consider National Champions. Â http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/champions_national.html Quote
Brian Needham Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 so Mizzo fans are claiming ALL the SEC NC now?  its funny how Mizzo is normally an 8-4ish ball club but now MIZZO is some powerhouse because they are in the SEC?  The SEC brainwashing is clearly severe.   I hold no ill will towards MIZZO fans, as they have a good enough program to be proud of, but leading SEC chants after one year is a bit "sellout". 2 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 15, 2014 Super User Posted January 15, 2014 It's been two years and we are TOTALLY committed. What Missouri really brings to the table is a traditionally strong basketball program (not so much this year). Other than the Wildcats, the SEC has not been that strong in b-ball. 1 Quote
