These investments are predominantly in the commercial real estate space. For his trouble, Nick Saban is not a happy camper with these two alumni bases and has a hole in his retirement plan that Mark Ingram could run through. Additionally, I'm told Texas and the Longhorn Foundation have "passed the hat" to provide a dollar amount up front that nearly makes Nick Saban whole after these defunct investments. Call it the Lamarr Houston/Roy Miller investment strategy. The mechanism used to fund this "bonus" will be off the books in order to make the total compensation package more politically palatable when it's officially announced. Saban doesn't owe Alabama anything. Why should he stay? He put LSU on the football map and moved on. He brought Alabama back from the dead and made them the team to beat. I think both of those programs owe more to him for thier success than anything else. Why shouldn't he go to Texas and try his hand at winning a NC there and becoming the first to win one at 3 different schools? He could prove he is one of, if not the best coach in college football history. If Bama wants to stay at the top they better come up with some major coin to keep him there. If not, I don't blame him for leaving.

Not only that, but the school admins and coaches rake in MILLIONS of dollars personally, for basically being the NFL's minor league, and the people who actually put themselves on the line, the players, get IN TROUBLE if they accept a dime. Something needs to change.

I disagree. They got a full-ride scholarship. If they want more money in addition to what they already get then don't go to college. Too many kids are struggling financially to pay for school and they want to be there. if NCAA changes rules where athletes on full-ride scholarship, the college's health insurance plans, etc., can receive more financial benefit in addition to all that then I'll never watch college sports again.

I know you are trying to be factitious, but Michigan bought Rich Rodriguez's contact while he was at WVU, if memory serves it was close to 9 million. It was in 2007, that slimy sob left town in the middle of the night after throwing the game at Pitt and costing WVU a shot at the national title. He didn't even stay to coach the bowl game, Fiesta bowl, we won but ended up around 9th in the BCS that year.

"Undisclosed amount", so how can you tell that he's terrible at decision regarding real estate? Did you know that recently the real estate market crashed for everyone? In some areas it still haven't quite recover.. For instance, I have never heard of this lake until the auction of this piece of estate came to light... So a property being sold below its value is totally unheard of and the originator being a poor investor is unheard of? Heck, even the great Warren Buffett has lost a lot of money on sour investmentS. He lost billions on ConocoPhillips... I'm not in anyway defending Saban and claiming he is staying, but this constant attack on him is so amusing and irrational.

You seem capable of answering this one yourself: Invest in high end real estate and commercial real estate circa 2007-2008.

I provided a link to the most commonly known instance, but what isn't exactly hard to deduce is that someone doesn't invest nearly multiple millions of dollars in their first real estate deal. Furthermore, you don't make money off of real estate investments by sitting on the property. So yea, I call that a terrible real estate decision.
