To peg or not

Gents...

Under what conditions, type of presentations, or with what kind of plastic do you feel it is better to peg the weight on a T- rig [Florida style] as opposed to letting it slide?

i peg when i am fishing timber/heavy cover and moderate cover

if i'm fishing ledges i will put peg 1/8-1/4 inches from the lures so the sinker will moves little

most of the time I'm pegged.  Always peg when fishing heavy vegetation.  I will remove the peg when the bite is slow.

i use eagle claw bobber stops. theyre usually pegged tight but ill sometimes pull them up 2-8 inches in sparse cover.

I peg 100% of the time...  Been using the little bobber/weight stops with good success.

i like the Tru-Tungsten pegs, and peg about 99% of the time anymore, I really like those because they slide up the line when you get a fish rather than staying put and giving them leverage.

That's what I do too.  Rather than remove the peg, I slide it up the line 6-12".  I peg the sinker usually, but let the sinker slide if the bite is slow or I'm using light weights.

I peg in any thick weeds or brushy areas. The parasite weights are bar none the best way to peg your plastics.

I agree with Catt. The majority of the time my weight is moving free. Even flipping grass and punching mattes.

I just started using bobber stops as well. So far I really like them.

Berkeley Trilene Big Game 15# for every thing except for matted vegetation & Buck Brush then it's braid.

I want that degree of separation between the weight & plastic, so that the rate of fall in that last distance slows to that of a weightless presentation.

Yes even in heavy cover, I fish a lot of Hydrilla & while it's matted on the surface the are caverns underneath. My weight will break through suddenly & quickly settle to the bottom then plastic flutter into the cavern.
