I have been in a worse then foul mood since last Thursday. I had my 90 day performance review at work. I was told when I hired on that at 90 days I would be put back at the dollar amount I had been making prior to starting with my new company. Basically 2.65 over the amount I'm making now. Well, I aced the review beyond all expectations. Then the man tells me I'm not getting more money cause I'm already making as much as the job runners are, and substantially more than the other non job runners. I was completely livid, but its his company to do with as he pleases. So back to job hunting I go. At least I still have a job though.

Anyway. I've been in a completely rotten mood since that happened. So today I'm minding my own business running some pipe, not bothering a dang person. When the general contractors little boot lick comes up to me, running his mouth about something. I politely tell him to take it up with the job runner, cause its not my call on whether or not we move our trunkline. I turn around to go back to my work, and the mouthy little worm tells me, "Dont you turn your back on me when I'm talking to you!" I slowly turn around and tell him to go talk with the job runner, cause I can't help him and he better watch his tone when talking to me. I turn back around, and this little punk pushes me. I'm sorry but you DO NOT lay your filthy hands on me. I ain't your wife, and I ain't your friend keep your grubby mitts to yourself. Well, I lit him up. Right in the jaw. Boy hit the ground howling. Whole freaking jobsi te comes crowding around. It took my job runner and a welder to keep me from getting on him. It wasnt pretty.

Well, I got to go have a pow wow with my boss over it. He was understanding of what happened and madder than hell about the schmuck pushing me. Pulled the other electrician off the job, as well as four other electricians from other sites, until the general contractor and his boy toy apologize to me. Which apparently happens tomorrow morning.

Talk about a rotten week.

I am always intrigued when i see a title of a post then your name as teh originator because i know it will be soemthing entertaining.....and you didn't disappoint again.

 

Kid was a punk for sure.  I know i had a few run ins on job sites but none ever came to blows even though some i wish had.

I agree with Flyfisher. When I see a topic you started I gotta check it out, your comments on other people's posts are usually entertaining as well. Some people just don't know when to quit. It sounds to me like you gave the guy every opportunity to walk away without incident. I bet he will think twice before getting in the next guys face.

Seems to happen whenever my beard gets trimmed. The more professional and unbiker like it looks the more people seem to want to pop off at the yap. I cut about three inches of beard off the other day in an effort to be presentable to prospective electrical companies. Boy did that backfire on me.

Never came to blows on a construction site before though. Generally you save it till after work. Oh well. I agree its gonna be a long time until he pops off and touches a working man again.

Not sure how you were not fired on the spot.  Lucky to not have charges pressed as well.

I am sure that is not the first punk you have ran into, nor the last.  May want to rethink how to react for the next time...

I'm kinda shocked by that as well. Ordinarily its adios your gone. Got lucky there.

He can file charges all day if he wants. Ain't gonna do nothing but make me money. He instigated the fight as soon as he pushed me. Once he laid his hands on me any hope of lawsuit went bye bye. Along those same lines once I lit him up I lost the ability to sue for assault.

Unless I can claim mental anguish over having been pushed by him. I feared for my life in the seconds leading up to the attack. I was worried he was gonna do bodily harm to my frail frame. I have recurring nightmares now about his mangy hands coming towards me. I have been emotionally scarred. The only thing that will get me over this is a hundred million dollars! However, I'll settle out of court right now for 6 cartons of smokes, 1000 dollars, a keg of Guinness, two Calcutta reels, and two Ugly Sticks.
