Daddyodo Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Ok, my budget this month for lures is 10 bucks. I have 2 colors of Senkos, I have 2 inline spinner baits, 3 different kinds of worms, 1 buzzbait, 1 topwater, 1 rapala minnow. What would you guys suggest I get? Keep in mind I only shore fish. Quote

Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted August 7, 2010 Super User Posted August 7, 2010 a Strike King red eye shad , this is lately been the only hard bait (besides swimbaits) that i have been throwing and i've been killing them at a little pond that is heavily fished . these baits flat out catch fish !!!! the only thing you might want to do is change out the hooks if they start straighting out on you . i have also put on a feathered treble instead of a plain rear hook . white/chartruse on the sexy shad color is crazy Quote
bweave09 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I'm gonna second the beer idea. Bear Republic Racer 5. A 6 pack is a little over the 10 dollar budget, but well worth it. As far as what to fish with....Just throw the senkos and then go enjoy some Racer 5s. Quote
bandsr4me20 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I would stick with soft plastics since you will get the most bang for your money. Quote

Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 Well you say you have one topwater but not the type. If you dont have a frog bait thats what I say to get. One SPRO Bronzeye frog I like Green Tree color or you could get 2 Scum Frogs for $10. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Four Plano type 3700 boxes. After that tell us about the water you fish and we can give you some options on what to buy to fill em. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 Two 1/4 oz jigs, one black/blue and one watermelon, and a pack of Netbait Paca Chunks in green pumpkin. Not a bad way to go. I might go with a 1/2 oz chatterbait in white/chart. Add a pack of Gammy EWG 3/0 worm hooks if you don't have them... Quote
Daddyodo Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 Hey Flippin and Pitching, I fish a lake that has a tremendous amount of vegetation, (don't know what kind) deepest part is 10 feet, one end has riprap. Water tends to be slightly stained. I don't have a thermometer but I would guess water temp to be in the upper 80's to 90.Not sure about dropoffs or structure, Still too new at this. Also, question for everybody, how do you fish a Jig? I have a few with blades on them. :-? I hope this gives more info. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 A skirted jig is what we are talking about. Here is an example: http://www.***.com/Strike_King_Bitsy_Bug_Jig/descpage-SKBB.html Here is a good place to start learning about jig fishing: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1189609782/ There is much good information in the Articles section as well. Good luck. Quote

matstone7 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 1 pack each green pumpkin - Rage Tail Eeliminator & Baby Rage Craws Quote
repper Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Two packs of baby brush hogs, one green pumpkin and one wtermelon candy. use them texas rigged, and if you do have a jig, as you said, you can use the baby brush hogs as jig trailers too. just bite a little off the nose if need be. and if you get a jig get a 3/8 oz one because it will cast farther than the 1/4 oz. and get a green pumpkin with a little purple mixed in for the jig color. Good luck Quote
