I have been using various lbs of Yozuri line for the last 9-12 months. I really like it. It's economical, strong, and supple.

I like Pline as far as a cheap fluoro. Powerpro is the obvious choice for braid, and I don't think mono can compete with the abrasion resistance.

Jay, you've asked a highly polarizing question!

You'll get a lot of opinions, but to find what fits you and your style, you may have to drop a few bucks on several spools of different lines to try them out.

With that in mind, I'd suggest you do just that! Here's my suggestion(s):

1) Braid: Power Pro in 10, 15, 20 pound tests (I use 10 on spinning, 20 on baitcasting)

2) Leader material: (I always use braid for mainline and tie on a leader)...

--- Fluorocarbon: I like XPS FC, but others feel Seaguar, others are better. I'm not an expert by any means here.

--- Copolymer: Personally, P-Line Floroclear is my favorite, Yo Zuri Hybrid comes in second. I prefer Mist Green color for P-Line... Both of these lines work well, for me, PLFC has worked the best. Both are very strong, some hate P-Line, some hate YZH. I like both, use both.

--- Mono: don't use it anymore, but when I did it was Trilene XL, and I'd also try the Sufix varieties.

Anyhow, point being, if braid was your mainline, you could swap out leaders to your heart's content. A spool of line, then, will last you a looong time.

2 cents.

Pretty new to anything except mono but here is what I have found so far with a little experminting

Braid - Sufix 832, the only other one I tried was Tufline and I thought it was like fishing with wire

Fluorocarbon - Seagar InvisX tried others and like the way this one handles better, mainly use it for a leader on braid

Copolymer - YoZuri Ultra (spinning reel) tried P-Line Floroclear but personally I like Yozuri better handles better in my opinion.

Mono - Sufix Elite

I also use Line & Lure on all of them. Haven't tried treating the spool when I buy it like Glen suggest in one of his videos but will.

That's my 2 cents

I played the line game for years, but now it's Mccoy copolymer exclusively. Almost no memory and strong.

All I've used for the past 8 years or so has been PowerPro and I don't have many complaints. The only thing, another used recommended using a fluro leader when fishing weightless flukes or worms, might try that out.

Kinda new to all but mono.

Have some XPS Braid in 65 lb. for top water and frog works good.

Also have some Spiderwire stealth 15 or 20 lb. on a spin reel that works good also.

No flouro yet

Suffix for mono seems really good

Some P-line copoly little stiff but Dicks sporting good had a great sale over the summer pick up couple different ones.

Still really trying different brands and such

I've been using braid for all of my set ups since 90% of the places around me are overrun with weeds.

Power pro: I have it in 20 lb on my spinning and 65 lb on my baitcaster and I really like it (except for when I backlash)

Berkley pro braid: had it on one of my spinning set ups for a little bit but the color comes off very quickly

Spider wire: I have used it in the past and had no problems with it

I fish braid more than any other line type. My favorite currently is PP S8S, I've been using it in 20, 50, & 65#. I also use regular PP but doubt I'll ever buy anymore because IMHO the S8S is a much better line. I've also had really good luck with Sufix Performance braid, good stuff. I haven't fished their 832 yet, I just got a spool of it in 50# Ghost a few weeks back. P-Line braid has never let me down either, I just can't find it locally anymore.

As far as mono, fluoro, and copoly goes I only use copoly and fluoro and in both of those cases it's always P-Line. CXX for copoly and Halo or 100% for fluoro.

braid = sufix 832

mono = suffix elite on spinning

flouro = hate it

original powerpro = why = rough , outdated

powerpro super slick = if suffix 832 wasn't made i'd use this

I feel this question should just be stickied. It gets asked every week and the same responses are repeated. If you noticed RW literally copies and pastes his responses. I do not blame him, it saves re-answering the same question(s). A simple search would help a lot of members on this forum get the answers they are seeking. The same thing could be said for best $100 rod/reel, best $200 rod/reel. Best Fluoro, best braid, etc.

To the OP...about 90% of people on this forum prefer braid as their mainline. Often they say use FC or Copoly as a leader connected with an alberto or modified albright knot (same thing). The other 10% usually consist of straight FC or Copoly. Those who say FC will agree that you should not buy cheap. The top ones recommended are P-Line, BPS XPS, Seaguar InvizX, Sunline FC Sniper, Sunline Shooter, and Seaguar Tatsu.

I use braid except when fishing specific lures that creates excessive line twist, mono or copoly can be trolled out.  At present I'm using 14# silver thread and it's worked well and has been tested with fish over 30#, but I'm fairly confident I'd have the same success with other lines as I have had in the past.

I've tried most braids, PP by far is my most used and it has been more than just adequate, a proven winner for me.  I recently spooled up 2 freshwater reels with 10# PP slick, it's pretty nice stuff but hasn't been tested enough in both size and numbers.  I will be trying it on an inshore set up, curious to see how it fares there.

I use both YoZuri and P-line CX Premium, and I tend to like the P-line better.

Which one do you like best Clear Blue Florescent, Extra Clear, or Mean Green?

Clear Blue Florescent. It's great for line watching in day or night with the black light. I also read one time that clear blue lines might be the least visible to bass, but I normally fish stain water so I doubt it matters.

If you don't want to spend a lot on fluoro red label is your best option on the cheap.
