racer894 Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I have just recently started fishing with these baits. While they are excellent, and have increased the number of fish I catch, I find that they tear apart easily. I usually get to catch 2-3 fish before I have to rig up another one. I am texas rigging them with an 3.0 EWG BPS hook... Is there something I am doing wrong in fishing/rigging them, or is that just the way these baits are? Quote
Super User Raul Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 Salted baits last less than unsalted baits, ZBBHs are salted so what you describe is normal. Quote
s13john Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Get some mend it or super glue. Great baits Quote
BassThumb Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Sounds about right, they are soft. I use this Pro's Soft Bait Glue to extend the life of some soft plastics for an extra fish or two, and for mending frogs cut up by pike. Good stuff. http://www.prosoftbaitglue.com/ Quote
burce Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Buy the bush bugs from www.*.com, they are 3 dollars for 10 or 6 dollars for 25. Very good price Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted August 8, 2010 Super User Posted August 8, 2010 Watermelon Candy Baby Brush Hogs = fun Thankfully they're cheap. Quote
rboat Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Do you rig these with a bullet weight or go weightless? Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 Do you rig these with a bullet weight or go weightless? Both....You just got to figure out what drop speed they want. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 No worries,...they are zoom and are priced good. Great bait. Quote
BassThumb Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Do you rig these with a bullet weight or go weightless? Both, but usually with a weight. I usually fish them on shakyhead jigs. Quote
JDK. Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 throw em on a crig in 20-35 ft of water on ledges and hold on Quote
farmpond1 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 They've certainly increased my catches. I love 'em. You can, if the bait isn't too badly torn, extend the life of a "full size" brush hogs by tearing off the first half an inch or so (when they get torn) and rerig it. (Baby brush hogs are a little too small for this). Quote
