I have just recently started fishing with these baits. While they are excellent, and have increased the number of fish I catch, I find that they tear apart easily. I usually get to catch 2-3 fish before I have to rig up another one. I am texas rigging them with an 3.0 EWG BPS hook...

Is there something I am doing wrong in fishing/rigging them, or is that just the way these baits are?

Salted baits last less than unsalted baits, ZBBHs are salted so what you describe is normal.

Sounds about right, they are soft.

I use this Pro's Soft Bait Glue to extend the life of some soft plastics for an extra fish or two, and for mending frogs cut up by pike. Good stuff.

Watermelon Candy Baby Brush Hogs = fun

Thankfully they're cheap.

Do you rig these with a bullet weight or go weightless?

Both, but usually with a weight.  I usually fish them on shakyhead jigs.

They've certainly increased my catches.  I love 'em.

You can, if the bait isn't too badly torn, extend the life of a "full size" brush hogs by tearing off the first half an inch or so (when they get torn) and rerig it.  (Baby brush hogs are a little too small for this).
