A good one. Considering Yeti? Icey-Tek? Engel? True Blue? I'm leaning towards the Yeti Tundra 125.

A buddy of mine that does some striper fishing has a Yeti. What is important for him

is to keep early catches fresh through the day when temperatures are high. I think he

has had the cooler for 3 or 4 years without an issue.

I too have a Yeti.  I have had other brands of "expensive, top of the line" coolers and none stand out over the others.  But what I will add is this, because they have so much insulation compared to the coolers that do not work, it is required to get the cooler down to temp before it actually starts to work.  What I mean here is this, if you store the cooler in the garage, and it is 85 out, when you put ice in it, the ice will melt.  Why?  Because all of the insulation is that hot.  But once you get that insulation down to 32, the ice will last for days.  So how do I combat this?  I store my cooler inside.  So that it is 68-70 before use.  Then, the night before I want to use it, I empty all of my ice from my automatic ice in the fridge into it.  It melts, but by the morning, it is ready for either more ice from the fridge(that is fresh might I add), or some bags from the store.  I actually have 2 fridges and use both ice-makers for this.  It also accomplishes the task of needing to empty the ice out of them and have all fresh ice frequently as well!

Any of those high end coolers, in the size you're talking about, once it is full of beer & ice you will need help to move it.  Other than that, I've looked at those high end coolers myself, I want one, but I just can't swing it right now.  Too bad, I would "be somebody" if only I had one of those high end coolers.

My brother and a few buddies all have Yeti coolers... and all say they are well worth the money.

I never had a cooler big enough that my beer would get warm before it ran out!  So I guess if you are a slow drinker- get a Yeti!  :)

The Orca looks good, verry similar to the Yeti actually?

Also moving them once their full isn't a problem.  That's what the help is for.  ;)

Similar, in that they're both roto molded. Orca's are made here in the US.

Understood Root Beer.  I have 2 Colemans I use here at home when my pals come over.  They work great for the day, full of ice and beer, but by the end of the day, no more ice.

I'm going on a 3 day salmon fishing trip.  I want to fill this thing with ice when we leave and have ice in it still by the time I get home.

Going wth the Yeti 125.  In white.  Can't seem to find a tan unit.

lol.  I give up.

In the light of new information, I suppose those high end coolers will keep ice in its solid form for a few days. I've never used one nor do I have use for one at this time. If it was just for a couple hours, I'm like why do people buy such high end cooler for few hours?!?!?

Edit: Around here we have access to lot of ice vending machines, so I rarely see high end coolers.

Robert, use a block of ice in the bottom, and fill the rest with cubed ice.  It will last for days like that.
