Hi everyone, my name is John Lutz and I love to fish (I'm sure everyone on here loves to fish, as well). I do a lot of creek fishing for smallmouths and scored my personal best this year (around 2-3lbs). I also do a bit of largemouth fishing. However, my favorite fish to catch are native brook trout and wild brown trout. I fly fish and spin fish, but fly fishing is far more fun. I came across this forum a  while back and read some helpful tips from here, so I decided to join. A bit of a problem I've been having lately is losing frogs, either to fish or just having them break off. I don't know if it's my knots or the line I'm using (8lb fluorocarbon). If anyone knows some helpful tips to prevent this from happening please feel free to share them. Anyways, I'm glad to finally be a part of this community.

Welcome to BR!   As for losing your frogs, make sure you check your line every so often for nicks/fraying.  If it's nicked or frayed re-tie.  Are you sure they're being lost to bass? Could be pike or pickerel hitting them and cutting the line with their teeth.  Also make sure you always wet a knot before you cinch it tight.  This reduces friction which can cause a weak spot.  Always make sure you give your knots a good pull for good measure just to make sure they're good and tight.  If you lose a lure and the line is all curly at the end, it was your knot that failed.  If its strait, then your line broke or was cut by some toothy critter.
