sunkboat on big o Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Went up to Harny Pond, have a house close by, and fished friday afternoon, sat sun up till around 1ish and sunday sun up till round 2....very little to show for it. I fished just in that general area all weekend because the lake had seemed like 2 footers all weekend and didnt want to deal with them and there is hydrilla and hyacith everywhere.....EVERYWHERE! Unless you take a back way you can barely even get into the monkey box...checked a spot a little further north where we caught em a couple of weeks ago and it is all choked out with hydrilla. I punched and punched around the north shore and maybe caught 20 fish all weekend. Had my buddy in the boat sunday who is well versed in the area and the technique, he caught 5 fish with one about 6 pounds all 1 hour before we left. I know there was a club tourny outta the north end with about 20 boats and 18 won with 13something getting a check. If anyone knows what won at the bass busters this weekend please share. I know slimms last weekend was only 18 something also....ITS TOUGH up there! Hope your luck is better than mine! Quote
954R70 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 24 on sat and 18 Sunday. I fished Gold (Sunday) and had just over 14 lbs. The lake has been tuff. Rim ditch has been more consistant. Quote
gar-tracker Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I haven't been fishing, in the middle of moving. I heard the north end is muddied up and that its been real tough. High water= No Good Another indicator would be all the weights, not just the winning sack someone will always catch a big sack, when you start seeing a lot of low weights you know its tough. Fred you fishing the extream 1 man? Im not too much to do, 2 guys at the house for it. I may get out Saturday for a couple of hours. Quote
bocabasser Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 i fished from sun up til 9:30 on sunday morning out of slims. every place we went to on the lake was dirty, rough and there was a lot of debris in the water. we were planning on hitting the pahokee rocks, but it was 2-4 foot on the lake. we scratched that idea and went to the airport hole where i caught a 2 pounder on a spinnerbait. that ended up being our only fish. we then went into pelican, then grassy, then ritta. nothing. at 9:30 we decided to split and go to the north end of loxahatchee. we faired much better with a 6 pounder and a bunch of 3 pounders. we were off the water by 1. i sure hope it gets better, because the next couple of trips to the lake i will be there from sun up til sundown in hopes of putting a decent strategy together for the bfl. salmicropterus Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Sunday was tough. I had found some good fish in the last hour of Bass Busters on Saturday but the area had 3' rollers coming in Sunday morning and the water was all dirty. Not many boats running the Lake on Sunday. The water coming up so fast and now going down about 6" has the scattered fish scattered even more. Friend of mine caught 19+ on Sat in Bass Busters and finished 3rd and said they caught 100+ fish so it can be done Quote
topwaterrob Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Good luck in the BFL is it clewiston or the north end? i fished from sun up til 9:30 on sunday morning out of slims. every place we went to on the lake was dirty, rough and there was a lot of debris in the water. we were planning on hitting the pahokee rocks, but it was 2-4 foot on the lake. we scratched that idea and went to the airport hole where i caught a 2 pounder on a spinnerbait. that ended up being our only fish. we then went into pelican, then grassy, then ritta. nothing. at 9:30 we decided to split and go to the north end of loxahatchee. we faired much better with a 6 pounder and a bunch of 3 pounders. we were off the water by 1. i sure hope it gets better, because the next couple of trips to the lake i will be there from sun up til sundown in hopes of putting a decent strategy together for the bfl. gar-tracker Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Its actually coming down now. Lots going on, heat, water levels. But someone always catches a big sack. I'm hitting it hard starting the end of September. Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Trying to find something for bfl also, they have to spray where I was fishing though its totally outta control. Hear pahoke rocks have been good just to hard to count on if the wind picks up gets really tough over there. If I find something Ill report back Quote

sunkboat on big o Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Tom Mann posted a pig on Facebook yesterday and he generally doesn't stray to far from clewiston, there coming! Weights haven't been up but some 9 and 8 lbers been weighed last couple weeks, anyone wanna help me find them lol? Quote
topwaterrob Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I was out there today near kreamer. Decent fishing, it looks like a jungle though Quote
piscicidal Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I haven't fished Okeechobee since June. Sounds like the offshore fish might have moved into the grass, though. I've talked to several people who did well @ the outside grass, this weekend. I love Okeechobee, but it's tough for me to drive an hour past Lox to go to Okeechobee when 20lbs is winning tournaments at Okeechobee and I'm catching ~20lbs almost everytime out at Lox. I caught three 3lb, two 4lb and a 5lb yesterday at Lox and was home for lunch. Quote

bocabasser Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 KOTG competitor Jeff Justice caught a 9.5 last week and won an open tourney (Bass Busters?) with 28 lbs. Another KOTG angler Noah took home big fish with a 8.8lb fishing Slims tourney last weekend. there's some pigs being caught... jeff and danny were running to their spot when they saw fish busting up shad. they stopped and put 28 pounds in the boat, including the 9.5 pounder within 10 minutes. Noah caught his 8.8 first thing in the morning and had four 2 pounders and finshed second with 16 pounds. the guy who won that tourny was fishing in front of us and he put on clinic catching a fish on almost every cast. he had a 9.4 pounder and they won the event with 23 pounds. yesterday 17 pounds won the slims event and the guy had a 6 pounder. there were 4 bags that weighed in 16 pounds and every one of those teams had 1 big fish with four small ones. we had 12 pounds, but couldn't get that big bite. we chased a school busting monster sized shad, but we could not keep up with them. yes there are some big fish being caught on the lake, but not in bunches. YET. its gonna happen soon. 2 Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted September 9, 2013 Author Posted September 9, 2013 I went up yesterday and went to west wall and had water on my fron deck trolling into waves so i just flipped all the grass around entrance to coot bay, 2 big schools busted right in the mouth of entrance but I could only manage 2 little ones. Did get one nice 6lber but that was about it. Talked to 2 different people I believe saying they have caught fish on beds full of eggs? Quote

I was on the inside about a week ago and its so choked up with weeds in the usual spawning grounds on the East side my t-motor got stuck. Quote
sunkboat on big o Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 Said they caught them way back in pelican Quote
salmicropterus Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I've heard those rumors too-don't know how credible they are but it does seem like the knothead males are started to stage outside some of the cuts going back in to traditional spawn areas. Unfortunately, that's been pretty much all I'm catching recently Quote

Seriously I wouldn't do that but I suck at Lox Quote
piscicidal Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 David, Thanks, but it's looking more and more like I am not going to make it Saturday. It's my son's birthday and he wants to go Snook fishing @ the beach, so we're probably going to do that. I'm a little bummed...I've been on these fish pretty good ever since the second week of August. I was looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the BR guys out there. Maybe I can run out there in the afternoon...gotta check the tide tables. Quote
gar-tracker Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 I finally got out Saturday for about 4 hours. I did all right just jumping around on the north end, probably had about 16 lb, I raised a monster on a top water plug but he completely missed the bait. No pattern nor were they bunched up, just solid fish everywhere I tried. And with the exception of two fish they were on different baits. Quote
