I cant seem to find any shops that stock Dobyns rods around me, and I think Id like to buy a Savy. Im looking for a true MH rod, and it seems to me that some folks find the 733 a little less than a MH. It'll be for light weight T-Rigs, rage rigs, swim jigs, grubs, etc. 1/4oz to 1/2 oz. Itll be paired with a Curado 50E.

Ive got a hole to fill between a 7'2" Cumara MF, and a Compre 7'2" MHXF.

Those of you with experience with Dobyns, do they rate a little light, or are they pretty close.

Thanks

734!  Its a super versital stick and fishes more like a MH than a true H.

Even if it's a little light, I would pick the 733 for the techniques you have specified. You may want to bump up to the Champion, as the word around here is that Savvy's aren't the best for bottom contact rods.

if you aren't going to be fishing any sort of moderate cover, the 733 would be fine. the 734 is more versatile. do yourself a favor and wait for the sales this coming week and up to the champion series. the 733/734 champ both come in split grips and full grips. you're given the option for one or the other upon checkout. the 733 is the perfect 1/4oz or 5/16 oz + trailer swim jig rod as well as a 3/8 oz spinner bait rod. if versatility is something you are striving for and not a specific or two technique, get the 734 champ.

Shimano rods are on the light side of the ratings, a 4 power Dobyn's is closer to a Shimano heavy than a MH.

Call Gary Dobyn's and ask him what he recommends for you. Gary may be pre fishing the US Open at Mead, his son can help with this question. I would go with the 734 if your fishing 3/8 and 1/2oz jigs or T-rigs.
