ROCbass Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Has anyone ever used Berkley Big game on a spinning setup? How does it perform? I've only ever used it on casting tackle, but the other day I saw the Academy near my apartment has it in 8# test, which got me thinking about the possibility of using it on spinning gear. Quote

0119 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 I use big game 8 and 10 on 3000 size spinners without much trouble. Quote
BobP Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Big Game - found anywhere, good performance at a bargain price. Negatives - not very consistent diameter. Since it's found anywhere, you can get spools sitting on a store shelf for years exposed to UV light, degrading. I'll assume that's not true at Academy and I wouldn't hesitate to use 8# on a spinning rod. Are there better copolymer lines? Yes, but not at bargain prices. Quote

bassin is addicting Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 i would agree that 8lb Big Game is not good for spinning reels. unless the reel is at least 3000 size. Quote
