I have a few different survival blades, but I'm looking for a folding blade I can carry while at work ( hvac tech) and everyday carrying... Something that a person could depend on for various task. I don't wanna spend a fortune on one but I dont mind spending a few bucks.

If you have any suggestions or considerations let me know, I have a sog seal pup elite and an ontario survival blade that I love for camping and backwood camping

I carry a Kershaw Scallion.  I accidently dropped it from top of a ladder at work and broke the tip off.  Sending it back for a warranty replacement.  Solid knife, holds an edge well.  Small enough to not be a bother in the pocket, but big enough to have confidence when using.

CRKT M16

Sog Aegis and Aegis II

I carry and use all four. Or just drop the coin and get a MicroTech. You want regret it.

I carry the Kershaw Blackout, it is a good everyday carry knife that is not expensive.

If you looking for a decent worker, myerco has a couple nice folders done by lambert and lightfoot a couple blade styles and versions in std and assist open. For 30-60 bucks and the reviews are very good on blade forums. I am partial to the catchdog model.

I also like kabar's folders, the phat bob is a nice one. Bacon maker is good too. Don't be afraid of the Taiwanese steel, bucks cheaper knives are done there or china.

Gerber and kershaw both make some nice stuff.

Randle adventure and technology worked with ontario on some of their knives as well as kabar My edc is an esee(formerly RAT) izula II with a sharp shooter sheath. If you get a chance google the esee folder that thing is sweet but yet to be released.

A good site with good prices is smokey mountain knife works. There are others like bladehq too.

That is a nice knife. I really like their knives, my boss owns a few, that model I think. But they are a little out of my price range, I would be afraid to lose that, I tend to split the difference between bottom line and top of the line. But good quality folders, especially made in USA, are pricey.

CRKT Ignitor

love it

I got a CRKT M16 a while back because I'd heard good things, I haven't been too impressed though. The design is good, but the blade on mine sucks, won't hold an edge at all. It really soured me on CRKTs.

I have a Buck folding hunting knife.  I got it about 5 years ago for a present.  Over the years I have put that knife though the ringer and the blade has kept its edge.

MY EDC for better than ten years was a Kershaw whirlwind. Basically the same as the blackout, without the black blade. I lost it.

Replaced it with a CRKT Ripple. Not an assisted opening knife, but with the flipper and the ball bearing supported blade it opens one-handed as fast as the Kershaw assisted openers. Good steel, razor sharp, very light, good grip, Takes up very little pocket space, what else you want?

Also have a Mcusta damascus folder. Too nice for everyday carry, and no pocket clip. It's my "dress" knife.

My two neck knives are from Cold Steel. A Scottich Spike and Scimitar Spike. Don't get one of the new version with plastic handles. Do a search for the older models with cord wrapped handles. Much nicer.

My two favorite in car backups are a SOG Forge and a Browning Arbitrator. Either will get your attention.

Sog Vulcan Tanto is my EDC, I really like it for the tanto section which is nice when I have to score(sp?) anything, but yet the length of the blade has some belly to it, so it's still an extremely efficient slicer. Also, I like that it doesnt have the assisted opening on it. But hell, its so smooth just a flick on the stud will open it and lock it. However, they are pretty pricey at around 100 on auction sites for the full size, a little cheaper for the mini version. The steel is also top notch, It actually has a slightly softer steel sandwhiched between to very hard steels so it will get extremely sharp, yet hold it and still be very durable. Have been EDCing it for a year now and havent had to resharpen but once.

Before that though, my EDC was a SOG Flash II Tanto blade. I liked it alot, but the blade on the vulcan is just really versatile.

I carry a Spyderco Dragonfly.  It's smaller knife but still large enough to be useful.  I use it daily for cutting random things at work, the belt clip and one handed open and close make it great for a daily carry knife.  I've always carried Spyderco knives and the Dragonfly is my favorite of all of them I've owned.

That is a good looking knife. I am going to have to check that out, it would fit in dress slacks well.

I just sent off my Kershaw for blade replacement.  Man, I love that little thing, used it more than I realized.  I bet I've reached for it a dozen times.

Thanks, I think it would make a good business attire knife.  The clip holds the knife securely and it is small and light enough that it doesn't weigh down your pocket or take up any room.  Other than the slightly aggressive looking blade, the stainless steel knife looks classy, I think.

One other nice thing about Spyderco knives is they stay tight as a drum.  You never have to tighten anything up and there are no screws to mess with.  Also, the thumbhole in the blade works as well as any of the "peg" style openers on other knifes.

Yeah the little gerber I carry has a thumb hole instead of a stud. Nice because it doesn't catch on anything like your pocket. But my gerber is a plastic handle with no clip, good little knife, looks decent just not too fancy.

I've had a couple Benchmades that have been great knives for almost a decade.  Saltwater, sand, other forms of abuse, and no issues whatsoever.

I carry a Gerber Fast Draw Mini with the safety switch and spring assisted blade opening. Opens really easy with a little flick. It fits very well in my pocket and doesn't get in the way of getting my keys out like some knives I've had.

I've got a kershaw leek assisted open my grandpa gave me for christmas 2 years ago and it's still going strong. Haven't had to sharpen it once. I only use it for opening stuff and camping so I'm not cutting wire with it or anything that would mess up the blade. Love it and it's nice and small.
