George DeHaven Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 Anyone know anything about these? I was just wandering around on the Walmart website and saw that these are being sold for 91 cents each! I bought 2 of them because it seems like they don't have many left. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Strike-King-Promo-Spinnerbait/20552267 Quote

George DeHaven Posted August 23, 2013 Author Posted August 23, 2013 I just want to know if they're any good or if anyone on here has used them. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 23, 2013 Super User Posted August 23, 2013 Only the bass where you fish can tell you if they are any good. So purchase a few colors and give 'em a try and let us know how you do and how they perform and hold up to hard strikes and the battles. Quote
Super User Marty Posted August 23, 2013 Super User Posted August 23, 2013 They'll catch fish. Other cheap spinnerbaits work and there's no reason why these won't too. However, you may find they don't hold up as well as other brands. I love this range of prices: Online $0.90- $0.91 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 24, 2013 Super User Posted August 24, 2013 So silly... Catch a fish, maybe...buy a new lure. Take a look at some of our sponsor's spinnerbaits. Quote
Jolly Green Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 "...have been designed to help increase strike frequency between casts." I can't put my finger on the exact reason why this is so funny to me, but it's a good chuckle. These were my first spinnerbaits; I bought them knowing they were probably crap but also knowing that I might lose a few in the learning curve. (I did.) I took a feisty 30" pike on one of these last year, as well as a few bass with no problem, but they are as poorly made as their price tag suggests. You can clip the hook off with pretty much anything designed to cut wire. I would personally hate to lose a nice fish to that kind of failure. 1 Quote
RyneB Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 I have caught a lot of fish on these spinnerbaits. The skirt and collar are crap, but the hook is sharp and strong. When I fish shallow rivers and creeks, I throw one because I don't care if the head gets the paint worn off from hitting rocks. I learned to tie skirts by tying my skirts on this spinnerbait. You can get them at the actual store, so don't bother with ordering online. Quote

I have caught a 32 incher on a small ice jig and bobber, a 46 incher on small bomber crankbait with stock hooks and a few other northern and muskie over 25 inches and never once has one cut my hook with its teeth. They are more prone to cut my fingers and my line than my hook lol Quote
Jolly Green Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Hmmm... maybe I got a bad hook, which happens. I got it stuck through a piece of clothing and didn't know enough to just flatten the barb for easy removal, so I got out a small needle nose pliers and clipped it off like it was nothing. Quote

Blues19 Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 These spinnerbaits will work. i typically use these when im out enjoying the weather. i dont use them if im doing serious fishing. not the best quality, but they will work Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted August 25, 2013 Super User Posted August 25, 2013 Nothing wrong with a $1 Wal Mart spinnerbait. I caught my first 3 fish this season on one. Are there better spinnerbaits out there? Sure. Will the $1 ones catch fish? Sure. And for $1 a piece, it's gonna hurt a lot less when you lose one. I'd say stock up on a few different colors that are productive on your lakes. Quote
nascar2428 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Fished with them all summer last year, caught a lot of fish. As others have stated, they are available at your local Walmart for $1. These are what I used to build up my confidence in spinner bait fishing. Haven't used them this year, switched over to name brands in heavier weights. Quote
Quillback Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 "...have been designed to help increase strike frequency between casts." I've been looking for a lure that will catch fish "between casts". I guess what they're saying is that when you put it down on the deck, the bass will jump in your boat and grab it. I'll have to see that on video before I'll buy one. Quote
dday07 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 When visited a friend on Coosa few years back needed a smaller profile spinnerbait...there 3/16 size and they were just what i needed for the spots...nailed a 6lb striper with it didn't bend...easily caught more bass on this spinner than any other i had...but as mentioned..they are cheap andi'm sure break alot sooner than brand named spinners Quote
Brent Bartman Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 i fish strictly two dollars and under spinner baits and i love them. i have caught as many fishing on my cheapos as my 5 dollar ones and i dont care if i loose a cheap one. and i have never had an issue with durability on these except for skirts getting messed up but i have learned to wrap a bread tie on there as tight as a can with pliers and clip it and they stay really well Quote
