Super User Nitrofreak Posted August 24, 2013 Super User Posted August 24, 2013 SRV, Van Halen, and Joe Satriani. Love them all, depending on the mood I'm in. Seriously, I can not believe there were not more votes for Eddie, SRV was awesome, Gains and others were banging for sure, but no one had an impact like EVH and his originality , never mind David Lee Roth, Eddie and Alex were in a group of their own. I grew up watching and learning from Steve Gaines, Allen Collins and all of LS, they are and always be my all time favorite group, but there are so many, like Jeff Carlisi , Don Barns, from 38 special, that also innovated, Southern rock is my first love, but EVH was and still is the best originator. 38 Super Fan Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, and Duane Allman are all deserving of mention. Robin Trower has always been one of my favorites. They're all way prior to my generation though. Quote

Super User jbsoonerfan Posted August 26, 2013 Super User Posted August 26, 2013 While maybe not my favorite, I couldn't help but think about this thread today in the truck when One came on. Kirk Hammett has to be up there on my list. Slash was a great guitarist, but I can't stand Axl Rose's whiney voice. Quote
DelcoSol Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Bill S Preston Esq. & Ted Theodore Logan Wild Stallion! All before my generation but being a guitar player I love Gilmour, Page, Clapton, SRV, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Quote
BamaBassChaser Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 There are a bunch but my favorite is David Gilmour. Quote
DelcoSol Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 My generation... does Dave Grohl count? Seen the Foos twice. Best shows I have seen. Dave is awesome. 1 Quote
pbizzle Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Seen the Foos twice. Best shows I have seen. Dave is awesome. I'd love to see the Foos. Have you seen him play drums for Tenacious D? The Foo Fighters actually are in a tie with Pearl Jam as my all time favorite band. Quote
pbizzle Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 My generation... does Dave Grohl count? You've got to remember that I was born in 99' so most of my generation is still in high school. I've gotten to really like what's his face from Avenged Sevenfold, both of Mastodon' s guitarist, Daron Malakin from SOAD, I think Dimebag was awesome but as you know he's dead. Now Zakk Wylde is great and I love black label, but not my generation. As an overall band godsmack is great although they're nothing special when it comes to guitar, and the same goes for Johnny Cash. Quote
