Went to the local BPS after a meeting today to try and find a 1lb empty spool of line.  Got that taken care of.  But once done, remembered that my knife was a little dull and wanted to go see if they had one of those "do-it-yourself" knife sharpeners on the counter, just to get by until I had the time to break out my stuff and do it myself.  As I approach the counter, the guy behind the counter asks, " May I help you?"  To which I reply, "Yea, I was seeing if ya'll had one of those knife sharpeners sitting on the counter I could run my blade through real quick?"

He said, " Nah let me see it."

I take my Kershaw out and hand it to him, and he takes it behind the counter and turns on the grinder.  I proceed to look over the knives in the glass display under him, not paying a lick of attention.  A few moments later, he hands me back my knife and said, " Sometime those Kershaws are a pain to sharpen, but I got some of those nicks out for ya"

I said, " Thanks a lot" and walked away............

DANG! Thanks for the warning.

I think I would have come completely unglued. I've been thrown out of much nicer places than that, some completely garbage places too.

Either way. I would either have a new knife in my hand either same or of greater value. Or the police would have had to pry my hands off his neck.

Oh man. I can't believe anyone could be that stupid! No doubt his boss would be hearing from me ASAP. How did you NOT smack him?!

I hope you went back and slapped that knife down on the counter and demanded a replacement!

Buddy, they have those grinders at the BP in Nashville. No WAY IN HELL would I ever put my Spyderco's on a grinder. Hard lesson to learn but if you want it done right buy a spyderco sharpener.

Wow. I think I would ask to see the manager.

second picture not showing up for me,and you have peaked my interest

The guy at BPS ground off his serrations or "nicks" as he called them.

Looking at your blade in the last picture it looks flat at the edge. Did he take the edge off the whole knife?

Why do they let those people anywhere near the knives?

That would be like taking your camo gun/bow in to have it cleaned and the guy said "I removed some of that dirt for you" and then notice he took a wire brush and scraped off your camo!

Seriously, I hope you went back and cracked some heads... I mean seriously, that's a $60 knife the idiot ruined.

I'm at a loss for words for this one.

This is just me and my experiences but I never trust strangers, especially ones behind counters at BPS or any other chain brick and mortar shop.  I heard a BPS rep tell a customer that he shouldn't use BC gear because its to hard to use, another told me that you cant use swim-baits for LMB, I was looking for KEITECH swim-baits :(.  That's a shame, if you bought something save the receipt should have the guys name and or cashiers code on it along with a time stamp that might help your cause, good luck..

He was probably texting one of his friends while he was sharpening your knife.

I'd be PLENTY ticked, Jeff. I'd get some sort of satisfaction from BPS.  Cabela's has some counter help in their closest store that leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know what criteria they use for hiring those folks.

BAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

Sorry....I just busted out laughing when I scrolled down to the second pic. Im not laughing at you or your misfortune, im laughing at what had to be going through that guys mind. "man, what has this guy been doing with his knife to get all these "nicks" in the blade?"

That actually looks salvageable if you find the right serated sharpener. you can bring them back to a nice edge. I mean, if the knife isnt sentimental or anything, id definitely be asking the manager to replace it, but if it means something to carry THAT knife, from the pic, it looks fixable.

What model kershaw is that by the way? i carried a chive for years before the tip broke. I do like kershaws. It looks similar to my tanto blur without the tanto tip.
